Shock just like Wufan you stated your thoughts very well. And I agree with most of what you said.

One caveat though is that WSU certainly isn't the only MVC put down by their BCS school(s) in the same state. MSU has put up with an enormous amount of "stuff" from MU and their fans over the years.

I've probably posted a little too vehemently on this subject. One thing that always gets my back up is using officiating as an excuse for a loss. Meaning officiating complaints from fans, players, or coaches but most especially from coaches. They should know better. I've never understood it or liked it and of course 99.99% of the time it's just not true.

Best of luck to WSU and CU in the tournament. Represent the Valley well.

YES.

And by the way, this is starting to sound a lot like the UNI poster that said that UNI had to deal with things that no other MVC team had to deal with....

As "mid-majors" we all have to deal with our BCS counterparts. Even in this state, where our basketball program is light years better than its BCS counterpart has ever been (Nebraska has never won an NCAA tourney game...), we still hear how the same crap about how we could never compete at the major conference level.

I didn't know, that's why I asked...Also, I thought about UNI when I was posting as well. Thanks for the clarification.

DoubleJayAlum wrote: Thanks for the explanation. It does explain why WSU fans are so quick to adopt the persecution complex and buy into the conspiracy theories while other fanbases roll their eyes. I guess I don't completely understand though how the mistreatment by KU and KSU fans automatically leads to the belief that the MVC is out to get them though. I also don't understand why you guys talk about Creighton so much (there were tweets and message board posts blaming Creighton after WSU lost to Illinois St, even though WSU didn't even play Creighton! I didn't get it then and I still don't).

Here's an example:

My take on all this is that Elgin DID NOT want Wichita St. to kill Creighton one more time in the tourney. The "fear"
was CU getting either a horrible seed or not make the NCAA at all. Thus the "neutral court" comment referring to WSU playing in the NCAA's by Coach Marshall. Coach knew their for some fixing going on in that game. I just felt so bad for the players.

Yeah, Elgin told the refs to cheat in the game between WSU and Illinois St to protect Creighton. Some of you Shocker posters are ridiculously paranoid if not borderline crazy!

If the refs have a vendetta against WSu, and that's a big 'IF', maybe it has more to do with the treatment they get from Marshall rather than anything else.

I don't think any other fan base feels more strongly that they are too good for the Valley than the Shockers. Obviously it isn't all Shockers that feel that way, but it certainly seems like a higher percentage than the others.

Great point.

Marshall is a great coach and recruiter. But you have to be kidding with your last 2 statements? You are proud of the way he acted after the loss to Illinois State???

I also am glad Marshall is on my side of the fence. He says things like they are and doesn't sugarcoat anything.

I'm kind of proud in a way to see how much interest other Valley fans have in Marshall. They probably would like to see him out, not because of his behavior, but because he is now begun owning the league. It's been a steady trend upward since he took over. I too wouldn't want that guy in my conference. I'm actually embracing the sneers and hate rather nicely. I like being the hated. So does Marshall.

EMBRACE THE HATE, Shocker fans! :bounce:
