I'm kind of proud in a way to see how much interest other Valley fans have in Marshall. They probably would like to see him out, not because of his behavior, but because he is now begun owning the league. It's been a steady trend upward since he took over. I too wouldn't want that guy in my conference. I'm actually embracing the sneers and hate rather nicely. I like being the hated. So does Marshall.

EMBRACE THE HATE, Shocker fans! :bounce:

Maybe he should change his name and try to reappear under a new identity.

Your obsession is getting borderline creepy. You're one of the few posters on here who seems to get away with a lot of the stuff that's not tolerated on this site.

Why don't you discuss basketball, or better yet your favorite subjects Marshall and WSU, instead of worrying about the identities of message board posters?

Can we now move this back to a discussion of the other 5-6 programs who have not talked about their coach?
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

My feelings of Simmons haven't really changed this year, maybe a tad less optimistic than I was previously. Next year will be the judgement year.

Mixed feelings about Lusk. Not a lot of good to take from this season for him. Willing to give him a "pass" considering it's his 1st season. Next 2 sessions will tell a lot

I'll jump in and give my biased opinion. In fairness, I grew up idolizing Simmons as a player and in that regard, I know I have a built bias toward Marty. Coaching has many different aspects. As far as the on the court and in game decisions and coaching, I think Marty (and his staff) does a great job. Many on here and opposing coaches have stated that he gets more out of his players than most. However, recruiting (and retaining players) is another huge component to what a coach does. While overall I think our recruits have been improving, the obvious (even to me back last summer) lack of a big man flat out kept us from being a really good team. We were decent, but I have no doubt, with a true center, we should have been able to break away from the pack and at the very least finish 3rd by ourselves. IMO, we also need bigger, more athletic guards to take the next leap forward. Overall, I'm happy with Marty and wouldn't want anyone else, he just feels like the right fit.

DoubleJayAlum wrote: Thanks for the explanation. It does explain why WSU fans are so quick to adopt the persecution complex and buy into the conspiracy theories while other fanbases roll their eyes. I guess I don't completely understand though how the mistreatment by KU and KSU fans automatically leads to the belief that the MVC is out to get them though. I also don't understand why you guys talk about Creighton so much (there were tweets and message board posts blaming Creighton after WSU lost to Illinois St, even though WSU didn't even play Creighton! I didn't get it then and I still don't).

Here's an example:

My take on all this is that Elgin DID NOT want Wichita St. to kill Creighton one more time in the tourney. The "fear"
was CU getting either a horrible seed or not make the NCAA at all. Thus the "neutral court" comment referring to WSU playing in the NCAA's by Coach Marshall. Coach knew their for some fixing going on in that game. I just felt so bad for the players.

Yeah, Elgin told the refs to cheat in the game between WSU and Illinois St to protect Creighton. Some of you Shocker posters are ridiculously paranoid if not borderline crazy!

If the refs have a vendetta against WSu, and that's a big 'IF', maybe it has more to do with the treatment they get from Marshall rather than anything else.

LOL, it's more than borderline.

YES.

And by the way, this is starting to sound a lot like the UNI poster that said that UNI had to deal with things that no other MVC team had to deal with....

As "mid-majors" we all have to deal with our BCS counterparts. Even in this state, where our basketball program is light years better than its BCS counterpart has ever been (Nebraska has never won an NCAA tourney game...), we still hear how the same crap about how we could never compete at the major conference level.

I didn't know, that's why I asked...Also, I thought about UNI when I was posting as well. Thanks for the clarification.
Yes....We get told that being a bottom 3 team in the B10 is better than a top team int he MVC
