NIT No invites for the MVC?

Postby getreal4 » March 11th, 2012, 9:20 am

my conspiracy guess today is the BCS schools get the NIT bids instead of the MVC

Illinois St gets screwed due to weak nonconference SOS and the committee likely won't take UNI over Ill St.

Hope I'm wrong....

I agree. They will go for the money grab with the BCS schools. I think its likely that 1 MVC school gets taken, but likely not both as we deserve.

Said this after the Valley tourney................sorry, but NO N.I.T. for the Valley!

Fortunately the conference regular season champ should be going to the Big Dance along with the Valley tourney winner. Nobody else deserves it based on too much beating each other up during the conference season. You can only do that in the Big East.

It is going to be a shame if Iowa is in and Illinois St. and UNI do not get in. Not to mention Iowa is a 7 seed and gets to be at home. A bunch of BS if you ask me!

Both have decent draws despite being 7s. Still think it is BS Iowa even made it in let alone getting the home game. Of course it is probably all about their money...

Iowa simply bought a home game, plain and simple.

Happy that both ISU and UNI got in, though. First ever NIT appearance for UNI, oddly enough.

Iowa's AD said this right after they lost in the B1G tourney:

“In the old days, it used to be a bidding war,” Iowa athletics director Gary Barta said Friday. “You would go in and whoever bid the most would get into the NIT and host. I like it much better the way it is now.”

Apparently things haven't really changed since the old days.
