One thing that is likely to happen is the schools that are planning on being FBS in football in the mid-Atlantic region will leave. So any of Richmond, UMass, Charlotte and those schools from the CAA like ODU, James Madison and VCU (starting a club team this year and with a new admin that wants to pursue football) will likely wind up in a league together.

URI has hinted they might go to the Northeast Conference and Fordham put leverage on the Patriot League to allow scholarships in football, which may signal a mutual commitment to them going back in that scenario. Also Fordham seeking scholarships may indicate a long-term plan to bring Lombardi U back to big-time too. Who knows at this point?

Also if the Big East basketball-only schools splinter, Seton Hall and the A10 have expressed mutual interest.

As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, SLU wants no part of the MVC. They've had opportunities in the past and declined. Their profile is a better and natural fit with the A10 and they want better East Coast exposure.

Majerus has been a vocal proponent of moving the Billikens back to the Valley, but the admin has other designs.

I think the only reason UE would consider leaving is because beating MSU 3 times a season doesn't help the program. IN OTHER NEWS, MSUBear42 has no idea what the administration at UE wants to do in regards to conference affiliation.

The MVC is haves and have nots. The haves are certainly hoping things materialize to leave the Valley whereas the havenots think the Valley is the best conference possible.

If you don't play football, you're making a lateral move for the sake of making a move. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

In fact, I'd guess most folks at MVC schools that want to make a jump would not like the disproportionate emphasis on football (because you do need football to move up), being the new kid on the block, unbalanced schedules, the lack of an historical rival, travel difficulties and the impacts those, and other, factors have on your school.

If you do have football and have visions of jumping to FBS, good luck in the MAC or Sun Belt and enjoy being "better off."

A hypothetical.

Butler to A10 (replaces Temple). E-Ville to Horizon (replaces Butler). SLU to the MVC (replaces E-Ville).

We stay at 10 and the A10 has to figure something else out.
