Maybe I should tweet that Marshall is headed to SMU and see what happens LMAO.

of course any idiot can throw out a tweet, but this idiot happens to be Tulsa's beat writer. Holds a little more weight.

I agree. I just can't see Jank leaving for a program like Tulsa with what he has coming back. I could see him possibly moving after an NCAA tourney appearance next year though. I bet the people in Nebraska would love him.

Interesting. Not sure what kind of $$$ they would throw, but can't imagine that job would be any more attractive than Illinois St. And with what he has coming back for next year he would be an idiot to make that move IMHO.

I agree with most of this.

Tulsa probably could pay him a bit more, but they have mediocre fan support (granted with a mediocre team recently) and it's a football world.

It's not a bad job, but not a step up, IMO. It's on par with several MVC jobs and better than some but would be a lateral move to an unstable situation for Jank.

Next year is Jank's contract year (figuratively). If he hits it big, he likely gets looks from much better jobs than Tulsa.

The Tulsa World writers are pretty good at getting information, though. So I'm guessing it's correct that they have interest.

OT: Speaking of unstable, Mike Davis was just fired at UAB: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... mike-davis

Would SIU want to talk to him?

That's surprising, 3 NITS and one NCAA in 5 years. Not horrible.....we play them at home next year.

No kidding, I really don't see UAB ever having a much better 5 year span than that.

Weber expected to interview at Illinois:
Former Illinois coach Bruce Weber is expected to interview for Southern Illinois' vacancy and is one of the school's top targets, according to a source familiar with the situation.

I guess I'm not sure who else SIU is looking at but I would have to think that if Weber wants the job, its his. I'm thinking that SIU is just running through the formalities and Bruce will be wearing a "Saluki Basketball" polo within the next few weeks. Hopefully this will greatly increase the number of Saluki fans on our boards since they normally are pretty fun to chat with.
[Insert snappy comeback]

Word on the street is the Jank is one of the final few names at Tulsa. Interesting to me because I consider ISUred to be a pretty equal job to Tulsa in a similar league.

I guess they're going to bump his pay a bit. Nothing is final, but he's in the mix.

He won't go to Tulsa but he could end up at KSU. If he loses out on KSU he stays. He won't bolt for Tulsa, especially with what he has coming back next season. There will be better offers.

I don't disagree with the perception of the Tulsa job. In fact, I think ISU red, in many ways, is superior. Just relaying what I heard for the group.

Could be a leverage play from Jank.

KSU is a long shot - but I don't have a good feel for their search yet.
