For WSU it's Cleanthony Early. He was D-III JUCO POY as a freshman and is expected to repeat. He is considered a top 3 to top 10 JUCO player in the country regardless of class or classification. He's a 6-8, 235 lb wing forward that is a complete player. Stats are in the neighborhood of 25/10/3 with 3 blocks and 3 steals per game. Also recruited by Washington, SDSU, Bama, Baylor and others.

Much has been said about Fred VanVleet. Probably the second best player in Illinois behind the #1 recruit in the class of 2013. Top 100-150 recruit nationally.

Teddy Hawkins is a 6-8 combo forward on a stacked high school team. Über athletic. Not yet qualified. Top 100-200 recruit nationally.

...Per the WSU coach that recruited him.

Most sites I saw had FVV listed 1 in Illinois for for class of 2012. Simpson ranked either 2 or 3. Should be noted that this is a relatively weak class for Illinois.

Jays just don't have many minutes for newcomers as we return everyone but Antoine. Chatman will get most of the PG minutes with Frosh Andre Yates expected to backup at point. I'm excited to see redshirt Nevin Johnson, but he'll be fighting with Jones and Manigat for minutes.

Moving this from a different thread:
iSASO wrote:Gregg Marshall stated that Fred Van Fleet is very much the same player as Nic Moore. I'll take that.

FVV (know you recruit's name...) is a much different player than Moore. For one, Fred is bigger with a much longer frame. Moore is faster and pushes the tempo as people have seen. FVV lacks burst and bounce but more than makes up for it with his vision, shooting ability, and patience.

I'd expect him to redshirt. He's good, but I don't think he will jump Armstead, Cotton and D-Will.

Babineaux's team doesn't belong to the IHSA, so I don't think he'd be eligible for the award.

No new recruits for UNI next year, but one name Valley fans will recognize by the end of next year is Chis Olivier.

He is a 20 year old prep school recruit who will be a RS freshman next year and chose UNI over Iowa, Kansas State, Indiana, and Illinois State. We were actually out of scholarships last year and Austin Pehl agreed to give his up in order to get Chris. He played high school ball at Seton Acadamy in Chicago. They put out a lot of quality basketball players including Ohio's PG DJ Cooper.

This is what his Prep School coach had to say about Chris and UNI.

He has options. Options are great, but it's all about a fit. Academically, I think Chris would do well (at UNI). I think it would be a win-win situation for Coach Jake as well as Chris. They (UNI) have been talking to me about him, regarding attending UNI. I've told Chris I think that'd be a good fit for him; I really do like how Coach Jake runs his program over there. He's a very, very skilled kid. He's gonna bring 8-11 points a ballgame (in college), 3-5 blocked shots a game, and he's gonna be good for 7-10 rebounds a game.

UNI had a glaring hole at this player's position. Why didn't he play this season?
His motor was a major question out of high school. Has that improved from his prep days?

Congrats to Aaron Simpson. Ill St will have a very quick backcourt in the future with Moore, Simpson, and Allen.
