Coaching Changes

This source is reporting possibly Tubby Smith to South Carolina. Would that worry UNI fans if this where to happen?

Worry probably isn't the right word, but it's definitely something that should be on every UNI fan's radar.

Isn't that the go to line a coach uses when he is signing a new contract?

There's a lot of stuff happening that says Frank Martin (Kansas State) and SoCar have some mutual interest. Martin begged some school in Fla (I think Miami) for their job last year. Did it through the media. There's no doubt he's not happy at KSU.

Then there's the player ruled ineligible for the NCAA game because he got some money "for food" the day before KSU went on the trip where the jocks have the 5-star hotels and $45 a day meal allowances. KSU's AD ruled the player ineligible. There appears to be some investigation into whether that was a one-time payment or part of ongoing payments to players.

Martin wants out of Manhattan, KS in the worst way. Take "the worst way" any way you want to take it. I think Tubby is a red herring in SC's search, but that doesn't say anything about Tubby's ability to remain the coach where he's at. He may be pst his prime.

Maybe, but Jacobson is not signing a new contract. I've never heard a coach use the words, "I have not talked to anybody, and don't plan to" and then bolt for a new job soon after.

That's what you say now, the coaching job isn't even "available" yet. If he says the same thing after the Minnesota job opens up, than that would be more reassuring.

That's EXACTLY what you want your coach to say. It doesn't mean anything, but it is better than them saying nothing or publically stating that they are interviewing IMO.

It is my guess that Jacobson is not a "hot" name right now, but when it comes to actual hiring you can bet that Ben is on the short list for certain vacancies.
