I can see EO maybe, MAYBE, being the most improved player this season as long as he can actually step up for us this season and have a good season. I just dont know if he'll have that big of an offseason where he's able to step his game up that much. I dont see him being first team or DPOY.

I also dont know about FVV as FOY considering he'll be going up against a lot of upper classmen for playing time. I definitely can see Early being newcomer of the year if he steps up as most Shocker fans are expecting.

What gives anyone the idea that Orupke will be so much improved next year? Having WSU been waiting for a breakout for about 3 years?

I'm not saying he will specifically be that much improved but hopefully this offseason he'll get it going, thats why i said, "...maybe, MAYBE, being the most improved player this season as long as he can actually step up for us this season and have a good season. I just dont know if he'll have that big of an offseason...." That's why there are IF'S & MAYBE'S in my statement, none of which i specifically said its going to happen.

EDIT - I can also see him staying at the level he is right now and only playing a few minutes a game when we need to get someone else in there, but who knows. . .

Van Vleet will red shirt surely. There won't be minutes for him. Early still Hasn't qualified.

There's an uninformed post.

Marshall has said that VanVleet is physically mature enough and skilled enough that he's not a likely RS candidate. That doesn't say he won't RS. WSU doesn't need him and FVV has an attitude that what's best for the team is best for him, so he may ask for a RS.

Early hasn't qualified because he hasn't got his JuCo degree. News flash. No JuCo players have their degrees unless they graduated at semester break. It's Hawkins (HS recruit) that has the eligibility questions. The latest reports (from January) are that Hawkins is "progressing nicely".

WSU is a wild card next year. I'm a homer and I wouldn't be surprised if WSU dropped to about 5th. I never rely on newcomers to predict next year. The Valley had a bunch of Fr this year who were MAJOR factors in games and in the league standings.

I'm not big on "potential" until recruits show they can do it at the D1 level. Some never get there and some who didn't appear to have the skills do very well.

While a 5th place finish wouldn't disappoint a major WSU homer, if half of WSU's recruits have half the skills we think they have, WSU could challenge for 2nd. Challenging for 2nd next year should be at least an NCAA bubble team, if not an at-large lock.

Next year the Valley is going to be a brutal and talented conference.

FVV might RS, but I tend to believe he will back-up Armstead at the PG spot with Williams and Cotton at the SG. That still leaves Ron Baker (RS freshman) and Joe Mitchell (JUCO AA) as third string, so no matter who plays, some very talented young men will be on the bench. Baker, Mitchell, and Armstead all red-shirted this year.

1. Illinois State: ILSU in March > CU w/o Young
2. Creighton: Chatman will determine the Jay's success
3. Northern Iowa: Could win MVC if AJ remembers how to be a cooperative part of the offense
4. Wichita State: Armstead NOY
5. Drake: Phelps
6. Evansville: Colt will lead conference in scoring again
7. Indiana State: Need Arop to be a stud
8. Missouri State: Best talent are 2 outgoing jucos; underclass talent needs to gain traction
9. Southern Illinois: Great job! Good young talent, lots of spots opening, IL Class of '13 is loaded...
10. Bradley: The Abyss

And I don't buy that the conference will be improved. 6-10 could be very poor. But that could lead to 3 bids too.

:Yea!:
