DoubleJay, you aren't being honest with your argument. You know exactly what state Turgeon left the program in when he left... a losing MVC record and several core seniors graduating. Marshall then showed up and had one of his initial recruits die the summer before season 1.

Marshall has not had 5 amazing years, but the job he has done repairing the program would be cheered by fans of any MVC school if they found themselves where WSU was 5 years ago. I agree that Cold is overdoing it, but please don't go to the other extreme. I know that you know what you are saying is meant to "win a message board argument" more than it is meant to be "intellectually honest". You are better than that.

No he really isn't, go look at his posts.

His is a clown in sheep skin.

Agree with every word. Whether he is trying to be funny/sarcastic or a douche, I'm laughing. And bigfoot shows are also hilarious even though they're not trying to be funny at all.

I found it by accident last summer and it is hilarious! It is a Canadian mocumentary about three guys. Two of my favorite episodes are A Dope Trailer is No Place For a Kitty and the other is A Sh*t Leapard Can't Change His Spots.

Disagree, vehemently.

Instead watch "Grizzley Man." Its the story of Timmy Treadwell, an Ex-Bradley Brave Swimmer who packed up his things, went to Alaska, and spent 15 years camping with Grizzles. He thought he was protecting the bears by living and trying to become friends with them. Little did he know, they would just eat the **** out of him.

As you might have guessed, he's certifiably insane. He filmed everything he did, even his death. Here's a sneak peak (language, don't open at work.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWeb64ElE4M

As far as just plain awesomeness, you've got to check out the TruTV pawn shop show - Hardcore Pawn. I found it when checking to see if I had TruTV leading up to the NCAA tourney. Anyway, the show is like Pawn Stars on drugs. The store is in the middle of a Detroit ghetto and the "clients" are insane and continually try to get loans on their worthless crap and then pitch massive fits when the shop won't give it to them. I suspect it is a lot more like what a real pawn shop is actually like as opposed to the fake Pawn Stars show. Give it a watch and I'll guarantee you will laugh your backside off.

I do like the original pawn stars. It's entertaining, mildly funny, and even educational at times. Tried to watch hardcore pawn one evening. Just couldn't get into it. It just seemed sad to me.....

To each his own though. How in the world did this conversation shift to TV shows though??

Interesting that NC State's Gottfried only made $1.2 million this year.

Especially when you look how far he took them in the NCAA tourney - the sweet sixteen.

Another bargain: Xavier's coach. At a million dollars less than Marshal, Xavier gets a sweet sixteen.

Sometimes it isn't as much about how much something costs and more about what you get for your money I guess.

Gregg Marshall is in the 93rd percentile of highest paid college basketball coaches. He is the highest paid non-BCS coach in the country. Considering his "dream job" (SC) has been filled, there are only about 10 teams (starting with Texas) that pay a reasonably larger enough amount than he makes right now, for one to speculate that he might jump if offered. Of course that isn't taking into consideration the intangibles that come with each job that might attract or detract HCGM. Every year he will make at least 100k more (that's 1.6 million next year) narrowing the gap even further.

We are doing everything we can to compete on a national scale. I for one am very proud to be a Shocker fan and can't wait to see what's to come of one of the best recruiting classes the Valley has seen in a loooong time.

I don't know but It ain't much. Doesn't really matter though. At the pay rate he is currently at, and the offers he has turned down, nobody will balk at a million dollar+ buyout. Frank Martin had a 1mm buyout and it was just an afterthought. If Gregg wants to leave, he will leave. Our job is to give him less reasons to do so.
