Amazing how much outright hostility I can generate for a harmless opinion. Considering I've never called anyone on here names, I can't imagine why this forum gets such a bad rap for being hostile to WSU fans.

Absolutely, how f****** dare I express an opinion. Please, call me an idiot again. Let's have another dozen UNI and Creighton fans blast me for being an idiot because I have had the absolute gall to respectfully make an argument you don't agree with while citing facts.

Thanks for posting that link to the Shockernet thread, DoubleJayAlum. It's nice to see the difference between these two forums on how the exact same issue was responded to.

I'm done here. I assumed the reaction from people on Shockernet towards this forum was just crap from a couple of people that came on here acting like fanboys and got shot down for it, and were bitter. I assumed participating in discussions respectfully wouldn't get the same reaction. I was wrong, and I don't feel like being involved in a pile-on. Enjoy.

rlh04d, let me shine some light on this. You need to know that Creighton fans are right about everything, particularly regarding WSU. Your role in the debate is to humbly submit your opinion for Creighton fans to approve or deny. Your opinion means nothing without the affirmation of a panel of Creighton fans who are ordained with wisdom you will never possess. Of course, the preferred method of posting is to simply agree with everything a Creighton fan says. It's just easier that way.

Funny how some are trying to rewrite history. WSU did lose most of their starters from the NIT team - Durley, Hatch, Ellis and Blair. WSU fans were told we were delusional to think after losing this much talent and that the NIT was their peak season and their next year would be mid-level valley finish at best.

Virtually every single person that posts here picked WSU in the top 2.

Heifer Manure

20% that voted teams to finish in 3rd place chose WSU.
4% voted WSU to finish 4th
4% voted WSU to finish 5th
WSU even had some 7th place votes.

But don't let the facts get in the way

You might want to re-educate yourself on what a "fact" is before you start piling on with valleyCHIMP. He we always lead you astray, and you will always be on the the wrong side of the "facts".

The reality is if you want to have a consistent program you need coaching continuity. Wsu is willing to pay to have that continuity. So for you schools who aren't willing to pay for it or only willing to pay for mediocrity - get over it.

Btw WSU IS AWESOME!

rlh04d wrote:almost every single article going into the NCAA tournament about WSU included the fact that they won the NIT the previous year.

Not that WSU went to the Sweet 16 last in 2006. Not that Marshall lead Winthrop to seven NCAA tournament appearances in nine years. Not that WSU was in the argument for an at-large bid for the previous two years. The one thing that was mentioned again and again was: they won the NIT.

Right. You know why? Because prior to this season Marshal had not taken WSU to the NCAA tournament, had not won any regular season titles and had not won any conference tourney titles. What happened in 2006 has nothing to do with Marshall. Likewise, Marshal's NCAA record at Winthrop has nothing to do with WSU. In essence, there was nothing else to talk about about with respect to Marshal at WSU EXCEPT for the NIT!!!!!

And, for those that claim I never give WSU any credit (ISaso), I am on record here as picking WSU to win the MVC this past season. My reasoning was that WSU had the best group of returning guards and the MVC is still a guard-dominated conference, combined with the fact that Creighton had too many newcomers (six to be exact) to work into the rotation. If you don't believe me, look it up.

This is misleading. 2 people voted WSU at 7th. Most likely, one of those two people also voted WSU at 6th as they only received 1 vote. 3 people voted WSU 5th, once against most likely some of the same people that voted them 6th and 7th. Once again, 3 people voted WSU to finish 4th. See a trend here? 28% of total posters did not pick WSU to finish outside the top 2 like your post seems to says.

For the record, I picked Wichita State first, Creighton second and Evansville third!!!! I can't remember how I picked the rest of what turned out to be a train wreck, but I do know I hit the top three in exact order. I should have skipped posting my picks and chartered a plane to Vegas.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!
