Transfers with MVC interest

Sounds like there are going to be quite a few D1 transfers. A couple interesting might be Central Michigan's Trey Ziegler whose father was fired as head coach. Also, Trent Locket who is leaving Arizona St to play closer to home (MN) and should be eligible immediately.

I've heard Locket is likely to go to Minnesota since his reason for transferring is to be close to his sick mother. Still a developing situation and a lot to be done but if he went to UNI and considered that close enough that would be great for the Panthers, although we would need to free up a scholarship again (although I believe Minnesota would need to as well). He'd be a great addition to any Valley team though

No chance he'll end up in the Valley, but interesting anyway (to me at least):

Alex Oriakhi wants out of UConn. A source told CBSSports.com that the 6-foot-9 junior, who has one year of eligibility remaining, requested his release from the Huskies earlier on Wednesday.

Oriakhi could be eligible to play immediately because UConn may serve a one-year postseason ban next season due to low APR scores

For Creighton, Lockett might be an option because Minnesota is out of scholies and still has to free one up for Mbakwe although I'm sure they could find a way to get another one if they really wanted Lockett. Lockett played AAU ball w/Doug McDermott and Coach Mac recruited him early at ISU. Omaha is 6.5 hours away from Minneapolis but if Minnesota isn't an option, schools like Wisconsin, Iowa and Iowa State aren't that much closer than Omaha.

Gilvydas Birutas also is transferring from Rutgers. Although he likely will go play for his former coach (Hurley) at Rhode Island, he is good friends w/GE from high school and was recruited heavily by Altman at Creighton.

I hope UNI has too, but he may be looking for a school offering more exposure and being on Doug's team might offer that.

Rumor has it that Lockett is looking at Iowa State, Marquette, Creighton and Gonzaga as possible transfer locations. Hopefully he'll take a visit to Creighton. Adding Lockett could put Creighton in the potential "Sweet 16" or higher category.

Marquette just released a high school player from his signed LOI to create a scholarship for Locket. I wonder what would happen if the kid just said, "no - I made a commitment to Marquette and I'm sticking by it."

The Marquette player is Aaron Durley, cousin of JT Durley. He was the 6-7, 250 lb 12 year old on the USA Little League World Serires baseball team about 6 years ago.

Sam McLaurin, 6-8 from Coastal Carolina....3 year starter
Chris Hines, 6-0 from Utah....2nd leading scorer...I think he was a high school teammate of Toure Murry.
