Reserve Center and Cedar Falls native Austin Pehl gave up his scholarship last year and was considered a walk-on. As I understand it, he is scheduled to be back on scholarship this coming school year.

Haha wrote:II personally would go to JUCO and play this up coming year, still have 3 to play D1 and could stick it to Bo by going anywhere including a big 10 school if I wanted to.

That would seem like the most logical solution if one were going to school for basketball only.

By all accounts, Uthoff is an excellent student (GPA around 4.0), so he probably doesn't have as much interest in wasting a year at a JUCO where his academic credits may not transfer. Might as well go to the school you want to end up at and have the course work at least count.

Also, who really wants to go to 3 schools in three years? If his academics were poor, JUCO would make more sense. When you've got a good student however, they probably are a little more focused on academic progression than the kid who is barely passing classes.

Greg's ethical backbone continues to embarrass the CU program. I fear it's only a matter of time before he steps over the line and get's in some serious heat. If Greg is willing to display this type of behavior when things are going well, imagine what he is willing to do when Dougie and Dana's recruits leave.

I totally disagree. I like Greg and appreciate what he did for UNI and am actually a bit embarrassed by UNI fans acting like a scorned lover. Sure losing Doug hurts, but imagine what the national people would be saying all over ESPN if we hadn't let him go to play for his DAD. It would be a lot worse than what Bo is dealing with over Uthoff.

Uh, no kidding it would. That's the point. He put Jake in that situation.

My comment has nothing to do with UNI's actions. Everyone knows UNI only had one logical choice in the Dougie fiasco.

Greg is slowly developing a history of shady and borderline unethical practices. If times ever get tough, this trend will only get worse.

IMO Greg has done more to hurt UNI than to help UNI. He caught lighting in a barrel with the signing of Ben Jacobson and was lucky enough to have a master scouting assistant coach in Jacobson. Greg's true coaching talents were exposed at ISU and will be exposed at CU once his son and Dana's recruits leave.

It was Doug's decision as I recall.

If you want we can use Brust as our example. He was let go to play at a conference rival. Everyone seems to be okay with that. If he was an All-American does that somehow suddenly not make it okay?

"Doug's choice", yeah right....There was no choice to be made.

Brust was let go because the coach he committed to was fired.

Brust is not a program changing All-American.

The Doug conversation is so stale. If he wanted to be at UNI he would be. Get over it.
