The deal is that you can't play the same team twice in a four year period. Kind of a dumb rule if you asked me because you're bound to end up with games of little interest if you aren't allowed to create good ones.

That's one of the trade offs needed to get coaches and ADs to play in events like this. Some folks don't like to see good teams too often.

In other words, the crappy teams wouldn't agree unless they got to play the good teams of the other league? I get why they keep that selfish position but it doesn't make the event any better.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying some teams run from games and it's probably not the schools you're thinking of.

How do the ACC-Big 10 teams get paired for their challenge? Is it done by TV? I would think a CU-UNLV game would be of interest to a network. Why doesn't the leage go to a network and ask if they'd want a certain pairing for TV and then make it happen.

Didn't the MTN network go out of business? Will there be anyone covering the MWC/MVC challenge now? I know versus showed some MWC games last year but not sure if it carries over to NBC network. If we renew the MWC/MVC challenge, I hope they change the rules where you can atleast play the same opponent every other year instead of just once every 4 years.

Utah State and San Jose State are joining the Mountain West. I have no idea if the MWC-Challenge will continue after this season or not, but maybe we won't have to leave a team out with the additions.

My understanding of the end of the Mtn. is that games that would have been shown on the Mtn are out for bid on an individual basis.

If you're not keeping score at home, the new MWC (for basketball, so no Hawaii):

Air Force
Colorado St
New Mexico
Fresno St
Nevada
UNLV
Wyoming
Utah St
San Jose St

Someone would still be sitting out.

From 2012-2013 to 2013-2014, they're minus San Diego St and Boise St, and adding Utah St and San Jose St.
From 2011-2012 to 2012-2013, they're minus Texas Christian and Brigham Young, and adding Nevada and Fresno St.

I thought it was impossible for this thing to continue without TV being available for it. I would hope we could hear one way or another if we will be continuing this or not (or even if we are starting something else).

If the CAA is going to lose teams, I think I would rather keep this going if we can rather than start something new with them.
