I get the feeling that CU and WSU are both gone as soon as someone asks.

I don't think anyone is going to ask. The geography sucks. Mountain West maybe, but is that really going to be an upgrade?

They both would want the A10, which would be the best case scenario. Good luck convincing their schools with the travel involved. Omaha and Wichita scream atlantic.

See, if they can't get all their ducks lined up to merge 24 programs together, what makes them think they can cram 28 or 32? Although they did reportedly offer the Big East a few months ago to be part of a 32-team conference. I think they wait with their 24 teams anyways, because it's going to take time to get UTSA, Charlotte, and ODU up to speed. I don't think you want to add more upstarts because you start to diminish your product.

BCS playoff changes probably won't cause much regrets. Boise has better access to the playoff in the Big East than the MWC, and there's more money there. Same for the others that shoehorned their way in there.

I'm hearing 16 is a number they are throwing around. Had 12, lost four, added six and still want a couple more.

Quadrants may be the way a merger could come together, with both commissioners maintaining leadership roles and another person brought in. Think of a president and two VPs.

I have my doubts that a new BCS system will be more accessible to those currently struggling to find a way in - even in the BE. Either way, I think folks are going to see that the grass isn't as green as they thought it would be.

If TCU can join the Big East, then clearly travel/location are a non-issues.

Mason may be turning down the A-10, which means that the A-10 would be at 14 still when you add VCU/Butler and subtract Temple/Charlotte

Meaning that Creighton would be 15... which doesn't seem likely unless they bring they bring a Valley buddy along for the ride to make it 16. And that seems highly unlikely.

Fun fact: using conference RPI...the Valley is now the only conference in the top 14 in CRPI who have yet to experience a change in basketball membership in the 2011-2013 time frame. Either the stability is really good, or the fact we're standing still when everyone else is moving is bad. I have no idea which is true.

p.s. And it's 14 of the top 16 conference changing memberships, with the MVC and the Ivy standing still.

I wonder if VCU goes to the A10 without Mason?

I'm for the MVC staying as is more than ever. Having a conference viewed as stable during a time of instability makes us look more credible on the national scene.

The MVC is stable like a 600lb unmarried man with bad hygiene is single - it is due to lack of options more than anything else.

The fact of the matter is that that are some schools with some real problems with the conference and the conference is doing absolutely nothing to address those problems. At some point, the lack of action on those concerns turns into frustration and outright discontent. When that happens, teams begin shopping and jump at the first opportunity to leave.

I don't know how a conference's stability makes it look more "credible". What does credibility have to do with league stability? Is the Big 10 not credible because it recently added Nebraska? Is the Pac 12 not credible because it added Utah and Colorado? Is the A10 not credible because Temple left? I don't see conference stability having any relationship whatsoever with credibility.

Fromm a distance the MVC may look stable, but if one really scratches the surface a bit, I don't think they would see the MVC as being quite as stable.
