Moves made official this week:

To CUSA: North Texas, Louisiana Tech, Texas-San Antonio, Charlotte, Florida International
To MWC: San Jose St, Utah St
To Sun Belt: Texas St

Current statuses:

Colonial: 11 teams
CUSA: 14 teams
MWC: 10 teams football, 9 teams allsport
Sun Belt: 9 teams
WAC: 2 teams football, 6 teams allsport
A-10: 13 teams

MWC said they'd stick with 10/9 if they'd have to. No Wichita/Creighton opening there.

The WAC is desperate for football teams; the various Dakota schools are starting to creep into discussions. Could affect MVC football eventually.

Evansville, MSU and UNI certainly have accomplished all those things, making them the most tradition-laden programs in the Valley.

Do you blame the addition of those 3 teams for WSU bring a below average program since 1990? What has cause the shockers to be the 5th best team in the league over the last quarter century?

The reason for the 5th best team in the league for WSU is because they had annoying obnoxious coaches in the past. They've fixed that problem now with Mr. Personality. :bounce:

It would be interesting to see if people think the Valley adds teams first or loses teams first. I'd bet lose. I don't get the feeling the schools want to add because each piece of the pie gets smaller and many of the athletic budgets are tied into the NCAA tourney funds.

And another point I would like to make is this, before UNI, MSU, and UE were added in the early 90's, the MVC was left with 7-8 schools. The conference was forced to add some schools, just to remain viable. The schools that were added were the best available options at the time.

Its just like today, we are at 10 schools. Is there any reason for us to add Milwaukee, NDSU, or Oral Roberts? Absolutely not. But if we, for whatever reason, lost 3 or 4 schools we most certainly would be in the position where would would have to look at schools like those.

And Loyola won the NCAA tournament 45 years ago. As others have pointed out, one year in the last 20, WSU has been above average. I am not knocking on WSU, but the belief WSU is so superior to the rest of the Valley is pretty well limited to a couple of counties in Southern Kansas.

Go to a sports bar in Chapel Hill and ask them to explain the supremecy of WSU over UNI or the rest of the Valley. I would bet on 90% blank stares.

And which year would that be? They were a #5 seed last year with a Valley regular season championship or 06' when they were Valley regular season champs and went to the sweet 16. Or 10' when they won the post season NIT?

I'd love to discuss this issue, but we aren't allowed to do it on this board. I've been told in no uncertain terms that when these issues get brought up, certain fanbases get very emotional, they complain to the mods and the discussion gets "too heated." Also, if you bring up concerns and problems, you are considered to be trolling, despite the fact that the concerns might be both 100% accurate and 100% genuine.

In other words, said discussion is taboo on this site. Hopefully, my simple reference to the hostility that such a discussion causes won't get me banned all together!

Sorry for making the Valley unplayable.. I figured having UNI, MSU, and Evansville in the league would just give WSU and Creighton 6 more wins a year.

Didn't MSU and UNI replace West Texas State and New Mexico State? Wasn't Evansville brought in a couple years later because they knew Tulsa would be leaving?

West Texas State left in 1986, Tulsa left in 1996

UNI came in in 1991, Evansville in 1994

the MVC had 11 teams there for a few years

I think these are correct
