Austin Ruder commits to MSU

He is a 6'2-3" SG who is from Nixa HS. We are also pursuing his teammate Jalen Norman. Ruder had extensive interest from schools such as Missouri, Arizona, Arkansas, and K-State--though the Cats did not offer to my knowledge. He is a pretty good get. Once he escapes the clutches of Jay Osborne and gets some good coaching he should be really good. He could be the kid that really starts the ball rolling for Lusk.

I don't have a lot of knowledge of his game. I have seen Nixa play a good amount but have been distracted talking to people so I don't have expert knowledge. He seems to score the ball well. Good shooter.

Pure Shooter with range and quick release; similar range and size but a stronger build and playing style than Ahearn. Local favorite who plays hard and smart and hits big shots. Not a great athlete, but a very good basketball player. That's two for 2013 along with Fayetteville Arkansas post, 6'11 Tyler McCullough.

Per Rivals.com... Missouri State wanted a shooter in the class of 2013. Now, they've got him.

One of the finest shooters in the Midwest -- if not the entire nation -- Austin Ruder of the class of 2013 made a verbal pledge to play for Paul Lusk's Bears.

A 6-foot-2 three-star shooting guard from nearby Nixa (Mo.) High, Ruder cast his lot with the Bears early rather than dragging out his recruitment.

"In the past couple years, I've wanted to play in the area," Ruder told the Springfield News-Leader. "I'm really happy that I'm getting a chance to play there."

Your question made me curious but I just couldn't find his shooting percentage on anything google turned up.

I think he'll be a really solid player for the Bears. Maybe even an Adam Leonard type.

Thanks. Good stats and my understanding he's not really just a stand still shooter. People who have seen him play say he's pretty good off the dribble and creating his own shot. We REALLY need shooters.

Adding Michael Simpson to this kid will go a long way towards helping the shooter aspect of things.

If Scheer could bounce back some next year, it would help even more.
