"tornado" started a thread on Bradleyfans that Nic Moore is leaving ISU.

Can anybody confirm/deny?

Consider the source.

Im guessing that this pretty much makes it a mortal lock of him staying at ISU...

Jeremy Werner ‏ @WernerConnectFM
#ISU has granted Nic Moore a release from his scholarship. He will transfer to a BCS school “As soon as Coach (Tim) Jankovich left, I made up my mind and knew I wanted to go play for a BCS program,” Moore said.

I think Nic meant to say...

"As soon as the first rumor started about Jank leaving I had people in my ear telling me I was too good for the Valley"

Exactly Ha Ha. Think a year riding the pine at a BCS might give the team time to recruit higher than Moore, and he ends up the 2nd or even a 3rd option for PG.

Even without the BCS Moore, think ISU will still be loaded for bear this coming season and should be in the mix for the top of The Valey.

ROCK IT MVC!!!

Tornado got his info and sources from redbirdfan.net

...but he will never admit it.

Tough break for the redbirds. I am actually a little sour about it, but that will be gone soon enough. We made a fantastic hire who is going to do good things. Nic is replaceable. (just not in the near term)

I made the same comment as valleyclimber on our board. Whats to say in his transfer year whatever school he goes to brings in a 4 or 5 star PG that projects higher than Nic. I wonder who they will let play in that situation. I think he is making a huge mistake. He was a rockstar on campus and the face of the program. Oh well. We will carry forward. Only difference now is that I would say CU will be the heavy favorites to take it next year.

I would also hope that we would block any requested contact between Nic and SMU for a transfer. I made the joke that Boise St. is a BCS school and he is more than welcome to go there (.....if they even have a basketball team in the next two years).

I'm hoping Bryant Allen can take Nic's scholarship and jump into more of a PG role as he was projected to be at Minnesota. That guy is just as much a gamer as Nic was.

That is the question I posed in the Jankovich thread. Would ISU hire a guy that assured they would hold the team together next year, or would they make the "right" hire, at the risk of losing some good players in the short term? I think they made the wise choice by hiring the guy that think was best. I think this will work out for the better in the long term.

Although, it sounds as if Moore may have had his mind made up anyway, so who knows. I agree with others that it certainly sounds as if he may have had plenty of people giving him "advice", as evidenced by all of the "BCS" comments in the article. He isn't just leaving because of a coach, he's leaving because he has the perception that he can play at "bigger" and/or "better" schools.
