If the average St. Louis resident doesn't know the MVC tourney is going on, it would be even worse in Chicago. I think I would rather consider further away locations like Indy, Memphis, Milwaukee, Tulsa, or even Minneapolis than Chicago. Obviously Kansas City is a slam dunk, but if we do go there --- I would like to see it rotate to an Eastern city once in a while.

Why? Approximately 25 years in an eastern city isn't long enough?

I like STL because it's tradition... I would like KC because it's new and different. If we are going to break with tradition, I'd like to keep shaking things up. A little competition never hurts, and if one city turns out to be way better than others --- then make a long term commitment.

Frankly, none of the citizens of KC, STL, or CHI are going to give a crap that the MVC tourney is in town. Not sure why you'd go even further outside the footprint. KC and STL in a rotation would be ideal.

But you didn't say that. You said you wanted an EASTERN city. Competition isn't good enough if it involves only western cities?

I'm sure the league office will hear diatribe after diatribe over the increased costs such a move will create and the financial hardships suffered by those schools' fanbases if the tourney were ever to be moved to KC. I suspect the odds of such a move passing a vote of the league's members are about the same as the odds of Kate Upton joining my wife and I in a threesome tonight.

Some of these same schools complained when arguably the best scheduling alliance in the conference's history was put together, the MVC-MWC challenge, because the costs to travel to MWC schools was too prohibitive!!!

Huh? We are talking about adding a few hours to a bus ride for most of those schools once or twice a year. Not exactly going to make or break the bank for them.

You'd think.

Except that now those fanbases may actually have to rent rooms instead of driving back and forth each day.

Check out how this news is being taken on some of the schools' boards. As predicted, I'm seeing comments by eastern schools like, "If they move the tourney out of St Louis, I'll never go again" and "That is going to make it a lot more expensive to go."

Haves vs have nots. It's no wonder CU administration will listen to any conference looking to expand.

Well, yes. I like Saint Louis. I've never even been to Kansas City. I'd stay home at least the first year in KC and wait for folks who did go to tell me how it was.

I said eastern because virtually all of the cities that would be considered are east of KC. Elgin already said school cities are pretty much out, so that eliminates Omaha, Wichita, and Des Moines... I suppose a Tulsa/KC rotation would be theoretically possible.

Vegas, baby!!!
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!
