Mo State will be spending some money on extra practices....just not in March. Later on though :)

The lockerrooms and facilities don't mean anything. They give people something to talk about and neat pictures to look at and show off but they have no bearing on wins and losses.

Have you seen anything at UT for example? Oregon? There are 76 BCS schools, just for starters and virtually everyone of them spends more on basketball and facilities than MSU, and always will.

Nice digs aren't going to hurt, but you aren't going to get open access to 4 star recruits all of a sudden, don't kid yourself. MSU will be after the same kids they are today.

WSU never recruited Weems. Mark said he couldn't play at this level (obviously dead wrong). It had nothing to do without not being able to get him here.

You might want to wait until you see the renderings of the new lockerroom tomorrow before you scoff at us.

And I know for a fact that K-State does not have as nice of a lockerroom at Bramlage as this one is going to be.

You would be surprised what impresses an 18 year old recruit. Lockerrooms, the way the jerseys look, the quality of the coeds, etc. This is just one step in a long process for us. Trust me.

Lastly that is revisionist history with Weems. Wichita had interest but Weems and his family did not love Scott Spinelli.

Casey,

Did your "Source" give you a rendering, or were you the final sign off on the design?

You don't think facilities have any bearing on recruiting? I think that's kind of naive. And if they do have a bearing on recruiting - that would have an affect on wins and losses.

Casey & all Mo State fans,

Congratulations on the new mbb locker room. While the impact of this will be hard to quantify, I have no doubt going forward it will help Mo State in the recruiting process and you will be able to attract some of the kind of players that slipped through your hands in the past.

Keep us updated.

I said they had no bearing on wins and losses. It's been proven.

We've had this discussion alot on the Bradley message boards. Everyone who claimed the facilities were the reason BU hadn't been winning and the "new" facilities would be the magic pill.

I can name a ton of schools who had new facilities, and with that, the promise of a better program, better players, more wins, etc. In reality, none of that has happened after the school got the facilities. Basically the team played at the same level it had before the facilities.

When Weems was in HS, we had posters from Topeka (Turgeon's home town) on ShockerNet regularly. They were begging WSU to recruit Weems harder. They got a hold of the coaching staff and expressed their disappointment that WSU wasn't more interested in Weems.

WSU also has a very active and informed Recruiting Forum. Weems was recruited, but barely, and I don't believe he ever got an offer. Weems was hardly even a blip on the recruiting news that year. We were very aware there were two potential D1 players in Topeka, but WSU showed virtually no interest in them.

If Weems had any "showboat" in him in HS, that would explain the lack of WSU interest. Turgeon didn't recruit players with 'tude.

I would have to disagree that he didn't recruit players with attitudes. See Jamar Howard and Fridge Hollman.

Does the remodeling of a locker room really constitute a "MAJOR announcement"?

If you will remember DJA, Nebraska Football held a press conference for a Major announcement about Memorial stadium. Throngs of media gathered thinking there would be some huge renovation or possibly a whole new stadium. In the end, the AD announced that they would be putting plastic covers over the wooden benches they stuff as many fat Nebraskans as possible into. That is my baseline for Major announcement so I think this would certainly qualify.

Pretty funny stuff.

I live in the greater Kansas City area and my work roommate is a 1975 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University. He is an active member of their alumni association. Since his wife is out of town, I am going to attend the below event with him. He knows I am going to wear my purple and orange Evansville basketball polo shirt. Please say hello if you are at the event:
