Loyola won the NCAA championship in the early 60's....I think 1962 or 1963.

If I am not mistaken, didn't ORU spend some time in the MCC, with Evansville, Butler, SLU, Xavier, etc back in the 80's?

I don't have any idea why they would have left, seems like that would have been a pretty good fit for them, especially for basketball.

If the MVC was going to start over, who are the foundational schools? I think BU, CU and WSU are the core followed by MSU. ISU and SIU are next but the others could be easily replaced by equal or better.

Why aren't we raiding the Horizon for their top teams? Milwaukee, Loyola-Chicago, Valpo, and Cleveland State would be at the top of my list for expansion. They are all in densely-populated media markets, bring a lot of tradition and at least some name recognition, and leave our conference footprint largely intact. We need to make power moves, not "lower our standards" as Casey suggested.

I would think it would be a stretch to call Loyola a top team in the HL. The haven't finished better than 7th in the past 5 years and haven't won an outright title since 85. They play in a high school gym and get a little over 2200/game to show up.

Everyone remembers Valpo for their miracle shot, but they really have done nothing other than that. They also play in a high school gym and got a little under 3400/game to show up for their conference winning season last year. Granted I'm a UE fan, but I don't see either one of these programs brining anything more to the table than Evansville.

Based strictly on value to the MVC, Drake would be very low.

Based on what would you say that BU is a core member?

Remember, in these days of realignment tenure doesn't really mean a damn thing to anyone except the B10.


Right now BU is likely fairly low on the "must keep" list.
