Why would I melt down over a hack article that didn't even mention HCGM's salary (I wonder why? :buddies: )? And everybody who has followed these type of discussions for sometime knows that Wichita has the largest media market...

http://www.nielsen.com/content/dam/corp ... ration.pdf

I hope all the lovers of BJ got their jollies off before good ol' CB had to come along and lay down the pain (ERRR facts).

HCGM Annual Salary 2011/2012 -- $1,482,000.00 (this is an estimate based on publicly released contract information)

This year his salary goes up by 100k thus his current salary is AT LEAST $1,582,000.00.

Thanks for playing!

It's a great day to be a Shocker!!!

No it doesn't. Every time your DIAAABBBCCCDDD football program suits up and players that look like they belong in high school take the field, your school's reputation is marginalized. Having football is a lot more fun than not having it, but make no mistake, it doesn't help the identify or profile of a university until it is in the big boy's league.

Sad to say when i saw a link to this article earlier the first thing that popped in to my head was what he would have to say about it.

The truth? Don't be afraid, the truth shall set you free.

To pay a guy in the neighborhood of a million dollars a year to coach the game of college basketball is almost tragic. With so little public money being available for higher education anymore, it is laughable to spend that kind of $ on basketball. I love the game but there are more important things in this world.

And I get that WSU has to give lots of cash to keep Marshall in the middle of the state of Kansas but for the life of me I don't get the McD money. Who is banging down the door to get him? No major BCS schools I can assure you of that. He is at best an average coach once his son is in the NBA, NBDL or Europe. CU could have payed him half of that and use the rest either in athletics to improve things or elsewhere at the university.

If you think it's hard to keep a guy in the middle of Kansas, imagine Nebraska? But I understand your sentiment. The Wookie is a BCS retread that was inches from getting canned. He made the best decision he could for his family. It's always been about the dollas with Wookie. Remember when he left NIU for a staggering 750K? LMAO...

One thing about the article that confuses me though.. the article mentions Wookie's 2010 earnings at 1.3M+. That number conflicts with just about everything else out there on his salary around 2010:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_McDermott ---1M

http://tagsgf.com/2010/06/23/thought-no ... pps-value/ ----900k (granted, they have HCGM's salary listed as 925k which was several 100k short at that time)

http://boards.kusports.com/showflat.php ... in=1744140 (10yr 9M contract)

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... UnTmISUxAw (10yr 9M contract)

Methinks Cold doesn't understand nonprofit accounting and the corresponding reporting requirements...

According to the following link, Marshall's compensation in fiscal 2010 was "only" $806,578 with another $27,893 in "other compensation from the organization and related organizations" (see pages 8 & 27): http://dynamodata.fdncenter.org/990_pdf ... 06_990.pdf

I didn't know that Double G's real name is Michael G. Marshall. Hey Mikey!

Like with Marshall, the IRS forms for McDermott support the figures in the article.

Michale Marshall did get a raise from his previous year as fiscal 2009 figures show a total package of $793,737: http://dynamodata.fdncenter.org/990_pdf ... 06_990.pdf (see schedule J)

Methinks a certain DoubleBJ's prostate has grown so large it is starting to press against his medulla oblongata causing compromised brain function.

How many times has a BJ gone up against the Shocker Nation over the years arguing financial reports only to walk away with hat in hand? Time really does heal all wounds.

Do you really want another lesson?

I didn't realize Omaha's TV market was #4 in the MoVal. I always thought they were right behind the Wichita market. Who would have thought that Des Moines (in the middle of Iowa!), and Dog Patch were bigger.
I've always said that I think Omaha's a nice city and that CU is a nice school. They should be an inspiration to the Drakes of the MoVal.

The salary separation will only get bigger as long as CU and WSU keep their coaches. Continuity with a winning program breeds continued success and pay raises. I have no idea how InSU, UE, DU, and UNI (with all of their financial woes) will continue to be able to compete with the Catholic Crusaders and the 21st Bullies. If WSU and CU finish #1-2 this year, it might be a long time before another program is able to consistently complete.

UNI will remain a strong RPI team as long as BenJa is at the helm…or at least until the Koch family runs out of boys.
