Most important MVC non-conference games

Postby MVCfans » November 5th, 2012, 7:31 am

Each week or so, I'll post a brief preview of the games that MVC fans should be watching. Here are a couple that I think are the most important over the next 10 days:

Creighton vs North Texas is a big game on Friday too. The Mean Green will be dancing this March for sure.

Agree, people probably assume correctly that Creighton should win this game but they definitely are very scary. Tony Mitchell is a projected lottery pick and they are very athletic, something Creighton team's generally don't match up well against...

Scary team, and probably should be included, but they don't have the name recognition. I believe ISUb is at UCLA soon and Evansville (?) is at Notre Dame.

Don't hedge on this one. You need to win the game. Period.

UNT lost their head coach and yes they have Mitchell but he's in the Sun Belt for a reason. North Texas is still in the Sun Belt right? I forget with realignment. In any case they aren't in the field of 68 without winning their conference's postseason tournament. Good one on one matchup for Dougie Junior or whatever but a game the Jays have got to take.

Evansville is at Notre Dame on 11/10. Not considered an important game for the MVC Report. We're use to being slighted.... WE ARE EVANSVILLE

Well, considering that Evansville has pretty much tanked their non-conference for the last few years and then decides to show up during conference schedule, what do you expect? I'm hoping this year will be different for Evansville.

Well a Lost is nothing more than 1 notch in the column doesn't matter if it's 1 point or 50.

Evansville isn't afraid to put them on the schedule. We"ll take all comers and take the score as it come but UE will leaver it all on the floor.

Uh, there certainly is a difference in losing by 1 or 50. Losing by 1 point to North Carolina shows you can compete with the best. Losing by 50 shows you are not in the same league. And as a mid-major that is always fighting for respect, that stuff is important, especially come selection Sunday.
