The Shocks won the game, but it was not a good outing against a D-2 team.
The 4th place prediction seems way too high to me.
This year the Shockers have a bunch of slow footed clods, who tried to knock the orange paint off the rims.

I thought Pitt State was lousy, but they had zero chance against WSU's talent and athleticism. 54-17 at half made it seem closer than it was.
Armstead is really good. Nobody is going to enjoy playing against him. Big, strong, smart, fast as heck, gets to the rim with power. Outstanding defensively.
EO-If we get 12-15 quality minutes we'll be fortunate. Still commands attention because of his size but he's a liability against anyone that can play basketball because he cannot react. He has to think, and he usually thinks wrong.
Hall-Jeez he's a load. More offensive skills and just doesn't stop.
Baker and Wessel are simply solid. Wessel a lot better than expected. He got it over the summer. Baker is talented and is the kind of player that's going to make everyone else better. I promise you Baker is on the All Freshman first five barring injury.
Demetric Williams needs to get over the ankle injury, but even then he was the fastest player on the court.
I don't get the love for White. He takes bad shots and often seems out of control and struggles to defend.
VanVleet didn't show much and I don't expect much from him with Armstead, Williams and Baker able to play the point. Maybe the bright lights stressed him out last night, but he's got a long way to go.
Wiggins and Early have plenty of talent but we'll see if they can pick up the game quick enough to be factors. Early especially is needed and could be a stud with his size, athleticism and skill set.
Cotton was Cotton. Solid, athletic, few if any mistakes. Rarely hurts you but needs to be more assertive.
Derail Green is not ready for D1 and should redshirt. Lufile did not play.
WSU can beat any Valley team on a given day with their size, talent and athleticism. If they don't improve, a well coached and disciplined team will frustrate the heck out of them.
One thing I enjoyed seeing was a lot of full court pressure for much of the game. I think this is the way for this team to be most successful. Sitting back and playing half court D doesn't use their talents very well.
