The second half was brutal. Crazy lineups and just playing a God awful team made watching it pretty unbearable. These games are such a waste.

Brutal. Hopefully your RPI doesn't take too much of a hit with this team that is so obviously outclassed.

Unfortunately there are a couple worse mvc teams that will be a bigger drag on the RPI.

Hopefully you aren't being serious,

Sure I am. Last year there were 2 mvc teams that were just as bad as Howard. It won't be any different this year. And supposedly Howard is going to be better.

but just in case....everyone in the Valley would beat up on Howard as long as they even give 1/2 an effort. Even a EU without Colt Ryan.....lol

You actually might want to wait and see se of these teams actually play. You also sound like some spoiled as whine about wsu performance and apologize to the forum. There is nothing wrong admitting wsu is kind of good defensively when they hold a team scoreless for 13 minutes and go on a 21-0 run.

This was Howard minus two starters for crying out loud. They were really bad.

Iowa held Howard to 36 points and Iowa was awful on defense last year.

Iowa also beat this Howard team by 30 points. I know Iowa is better this year, but Howard is horrible and you cannot deny that.

Either way WSU did what they should have done. Good win Shox!

A W is a W. Take it, learn what you need to, and move forward to get two in Cancun.

You do realize when you totally dismiss an opponent like your doing then the only logical conclusion is WSU is bad also - Howard outplayed WSU most of the game,

Apparently, there are several things you don't realize. First, if WSU "dismissed" Howard, it wouldn't be the first team in America to do so. Do you think any team in the top-25 has ever, or will ever in the future, "dismiss" an opponent from time to time? It doesn't make a team "bad," just dismissive in the moment.

Second, I can see Howard "outplayed" WSU most of the game...them being down 20-30 points a great deal of the game, and all.

You might want to examine what you snagged your tooth on...it obviously hampered your ability to analyze.

...Or, my BS meter is malfunctioning (which is always a possibility).

I was just putting the win in perspective. We played poorly against a bad team. Marshall challenged the team to play to the level of their ability. WSU failed to play to the level of their ability. Teams will play well some games and poorly others. Winning by 19 while playing poorly is a good thing. Playing poorly at all is a bad thing.

I wasn't talking about WSU, I'm talking about some of the poster in this here chatroom.

Second, I can see Howard "outplayed" WSU most of the game...them being down 20-30 points a great deal of the game, and all.

I guess because I'm not math challenged.

first 7:26 game - even (WSU 16, Howard 14)
Last 20:00 game -even Howard 36, WSU 32

It was only 21-0 run to end the half was the difference in the game.

27:26 of a 40 minute game, Howard 50, WSU 48

So if you want to dismiss Howard and say that they are "really bad" then it probably leads to the hypothesis

1. WSU is not that good and VCU probably had a really off night.

or the alternate hypothesis might be (and I''m particularly fond of) is:

1) Howard was up for this game and gave WSU their best shot
2) Howard is probably not as bad as some shocker fans would pretend, maybe not as good some of the lower tier MVC teams, but not that far off.
3) WSU when focused can play pretty good defense (e.g. 21-0 run to finish half)
4) Coach Marshall wasn't intent on winning this game by 80, he was more interested in seeing who maybe he can trust and not trust for those VCU type games and to work on things.

Not true. The coach and the players can experiment with different combinations or sets and try to defensive schemes. If the game is a waste, it is because the players made it that way. This is why your coach is mad.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.
