You cannot add teams just to add them. The A-10 beat us when they added teams like Butler or VCU. C-USA got Old Dominion, but that was more football oriented.

One thing I've learned in all this realignment: football really is the devil.

Well it's what truly matters. Everything else is immaterial. I am sort of chuckling at the Georgetowns, Marquettes, and the rest that don't have football and are completely at the mercy of others. I mean Georgetown doesn't have real football at least. But it is moments like these that I thankful for the administration at MSU for keeping football around. Puts us in more of a participatory role than a spectator one. Not right now but down the line when this is all sorted out.

Well, I gotta admit, when I was talking about football, I was talking about big boy, FBS football.

I don't see MSU's football program being a a big attraction to other conferences. Then again, I never saw the secret envelope from CUSA either.

Sounds like Boise St and San Diego State are already making contingency plans to leave the Big East now too.

I've heard they and BYU are contacting the MWC about returning as members

Those three would put the MWC at 13 fb and 12 all sport members (as HI is only a FB member)

That would possibly open up a spot for one of the 2 WAC schools left (NMSU and Idaho).

I could see NMSU to the Sun Belt and Idaho to the MWC...though I feel that NMWSU is a better fit in the MWC, Idaho will do anything to keep football at the FBS level.....

I guess Idaho could go SBC

Sun Belt went public in saying they don't care about NMSU or Idaho.

I'd watch Houston and SMU next. I could see them going MWC too and creating a western mid-major power that will crush the BEast.
