I think DePaul and Marquette would be dragged along with the rest of their Big East bretheren if it comes to that.

And if they get turned loose, the A-10 will be jumping over them within 2 seconds. If the A-10 gets gutted by the Big East (and I mean gut, as in St Louis AND Butler AND Dayton AND Xavier) and those teams are added while Marquette and DePaul are dumped (extremely unlikely), then and only then will those 2 turn to the MVC. And it's possible CUSA re-enters the picture to add non-football schools at that point.

I bring this article up because of the small mention of an idea I haven't heard anyone put their name on yet: the idea of a coast-to-coast basketball conference. Think a conference going from Georgetown to Gonzaga. While it's not close to happening, this at least indicates that people have this on the mind.

I also mention this because wtih the lack of interesting teams in the left half of the country, a Creighton/Wichita St travel package could latch onto the tail end of this idea.

Another article talking about a Catholic league, Creighton would jump on this in an instant if it ever became an opportunity.

This is a big fear that I have. There will be a "BCS" basketball only conference and it will be all Catholic (or all private). Wichita State has more athletically in common with the private schools, but certainly wouldn't be invited.

How are you athletically common with private schools? Just because you don't play football?

So the difference between us and most private schools is that we are less gay? :o

Yeah, that's it.

In all seriousness though, you have no fall men's sport that attracts spectators.

No, all the men watch Women's Volleyball, and after seeing a match, I'm pretty sure it's better than soccer.
