I have a hunch that many of the football schools in the conference will move on before WSU and Creighton find their "dream" bball conference.

Wow. I thought they already were in the Summit League. I bet half of the Denver media covering this had the same thought. The WAC? Who knew?

Denver's had an odyssey. There were complete geographical outliers in the Sun Belt, then left for the WAC. While they waited in the WAC, the Sun Belt backfilled their non-football slot with Texas-Arlington, blocking Denver out. Denver's presumably been searching for a new home ever since, given the WAC's troubles.

I'd assume if the MVC did ever call on them, they'd move up. That program is well above the Summit League standard.

Wow. Power move by the Summit League. Why didn't the MVC look at them? Denver has always been on my short list for MVC expansion.

We've been over this, they bring nothing to the table. 99% of the city of Denver is unaware of their existence. They suck at most things that aren't hockey related, women's soccer, or gymnastics. Do. Not. Want. The Summit can have 'em.

This is extremely short-sighted. You don't necessarily look at what a school has done; you look at their potential. The University of Denver is a fairly prestigious school academically and has an endowment matched by nobody in the MVC except for Creighton. They also bring more of the Denver market than you think. Once any of their major sports takes off, the city will get behind them.

In the offseason, the MVC should have poached Denver and one of the top Horizon programs (Loyola or Milwaukee), incrementally expanding its footprint in both directions and protecting itself in the event Creighton or Wichita State leaves the conference.

I have not been an advocate of expanding just to expand, but this was a blown opportunity in my opinion.

Loyola is one of the worst programs in the Horizon. They are no where near the top.

Recent success, no. But resources and media market, yes.

It is only the Summit conference they joined, not the Big 12. If we are in the market to poach somebody in the future, I'd say they would probably still jump at an offer.
