Overlooking them will be a big mistake by anyone in the league.

I love this mentality..."we're gonna lose everything in non-con and show up with a crap RPI, and then try to ruin everyone elses". Good effort.

There is an easy fix to that....don't let us beat you in conference play. It should be an easy win if we have such a bad RPI. That is one of the reason RPI's are dumb. It is data that comes up with a number. It doesn't take in account emotions, injuries, freshman getting use to a system and a host of other things that determine a basketball game.

That's Evansville's formula every year.

The problem is that even with a win, everybody's RPI suffers. On top of that, the wins are discounted by the selection committee because the committee doesn't consider them quality.

Here's the thing; you don't get credit for what you almost did or what you might do. You get credit for doing it. You want people to stop overlooking Evansville? Win some games that the selection committee considers to be good wins.

Evansville Beat Creighton last year and lost at Creighton by 1 point. UE also beat UNI. They also beat ISU and lost to them on a fluke 3. This years UE team is better then last years team. With that said, so is Creighton and ISU. Wichita and UNI or not any better then they were last year IMO.

It's this type of post and mentality that justifies the treatment of Evansville by other Valley members. "Don't sleep on Evansville, even though we fully expect to screw the pooch against Colorado State, Butler, and Murray State."

Screw the pooch sounds like a team is losing on purpose.

Coming on to a forum and saying I think UE will win on the road at Colorado St and Butler would be foolish. Creighton may be the only team favored over either of these teams on the road and I am not 100% sure Creghton would be favored over both of these teams. But I am sure if UE does pull off the upset it will because the other team played poorly and had nothing to do w UE's play. ;)

Nobody wants to see Evansville lose out of conference, nobody. But at the same time, nobody wants to see Evansville lose games to teams like Buffalo, then come into the Valley and knock off a few trophies, either. While it excites Evansville fans, in the long run, it hurts the league as a whole. The same could be said of Illinois State a couple of years ago; they were a really talented team, played dogshit noncon schedules, beat up on conference leaders, but didn't win the league.

Financially, these type of scenarios not only cost the league in stature and perception, but over the years, have cost the league second and even possibly third bids to the dance. That money trickles down to every team, and with each lost bid there is less money to trickle. The Valley was once almost a lock for two bids, last year there were two and early on, it looks that way again, but if EVille does their thing again this year, it quite possibly cost the Valley a third.

I know those wins will make Aces fans happy, but don't expect others to be so joyful. And those fans should also keep in mind the money that those wins cost their own program.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!
