Has Coach Hinson cleaned out the barn yet?

Prior to his arrival, I think Coach Lowery set some kind of record for collecting misfits, malcontents, trouble makers and talentless players.

I have always admired Coach Hinson and I thought the Bars crapped on him.

As best he can. His hands are some what tied by our APR situation. It's so bad we can't risk another player not graduating or leaving the team on bad academic terms. I think that is a lot of the reason Diamond Taylor remains with SIU, even after all his off the court issues. If you keep him, you set a bad precedent of allowing a bad presence, influence to remain on the team, but if you get rid of him, you take another APR hit that could lead to sanctions.

Lowery really left SIU in a complete disaster, especially academically and on the APR front. We had some of the worst seasons in the country regarding APR during his tenure and now, its really hitting full force in my opinion.

In some regards I think Hinson knew when he took the job it was going to be an uphill battle, but I'm not sure he knew just HOW! bad it was.

This also ties into Lowery being fired and what is due in his buyout. SIU I think, contends, Lowery was fired with cause, and if so, no buy out is due to him. The cause? The horrible APR situation and academics. We'll see how that plays out.

WKU is a hard place to win no matter who the team is. I can't remember what the win/loss record is there but they have a good home crowd, always. I usually go up and check out the Salukis at WKU but watched the Bulldogs last night. I am glad to see Barry turning things around. I actually miss the exuberance of the Saluki crowd at Carbondale and St. Louis. I have a feeling they are coming back, good for them.
