CU to the new league

Oakland and Belmont were once rumored to be going to the HL along with UE. If that happened and CU leaves the Valley, I would think it would be a good move on UE's part, especially if they could get Bradley to come along for the ride.

Agreed-even if only 1 of Oakland or Belmont is involved Bradley BETTER make the move. Although the A10 has their eyes on Belmont, too.

That would leave Drake and Bradley as the only privates in the MVC.....do the 2 schools make a move together? Bradley even dropped out of the MVC for a few years in the 1950s with Drake in response to the Johnny Bright Incident. Both schools stuck together in the MVC in the early 70s when Louisville, Cincinnati, etc bolted for greener pastures.

I'm more concerned that for Bradley, Wichita is the only other non-FB and I don't trust them. Drake and BU do have the popular history of sticking together and being the senior members. (Although truthfully, Bradley was expelled from the MVC, the Johnny Bright thing just gave the school a convenient cover).

Would the Valley accept SLU if the dominoes fell in a way that left SLU in the A-10?

The problem is that SLU's alumni are on the east coast, and SLU heavily recruits that area for students. The reason they aren't in the MVC now is because they have little interest in the Midwest.

I hear this argument a lot for SLU but am a little skeptical on how much it really matters. How many kids on the east coast are turning on their televisions, seeing SLU, and saying yes, that is where I want to go to school?
I bring very little to the table as far as inside sources on my Saluki's. I do however have very good information coming out of SLU as I have current connections to the SLU admin from my time and contacts as a student there. I can say with zero doubt that the East Coast is very much on the mind of SLU as far as any thoughts going forward and this makes a huge impact on any decision made, not limited to athletics.

Their alumni base is larger in many east coast cities then it is any midwest city outside of St. Louis.

If Creighton leaves, would Memphis entertain a bball only switch to the Valley?

If Creighton leaves, the league is toast. It's pretty simple- everyone is going to DEFCON 5 and once the membership dips to 8 or below, you can pretty much kiss the league as we know it goodbye. It might survive in-name-only like the WAC did, but there is no chance WSU/Illinois State/UNI stick around to watch this thing collapse on itself like a black hole.

I also don't see BU and DU sticking around unless at least 2 more private schools are added (assuming CU and EU leave).

You are correct, this league could be toast. If not completely gone, it will be unrecognizable.

I think you can forget about any FBS ever entertaining the MVC again. So you can forget Memphis, Cinci, WKU, Tulsa, New Mexico St, etc.
