That's from the SI article released last night.

There's no way Wichita gets an invite from the MWC. They really screwed themselves by dropping football years ago.

The best remaining scenario for Wichita would be a bball only invite in whatever the hell kind of big east conference is left minus the catholic 7 and Louisville. Presently, that league is looking at a conference of UConn, Cincy, USF, UCF, Memphis, Tulane, SMU, Houston and maybe East Carolina. I'm sure this league will be looking to court more FBS members but I wouldn't be shocked if they need to recruit some schools like Wichita or VCU just to get its membership numbers up. This would actually be a pretty good bball conference though nothing close to the current scope of the Big East. This is probably a long shot though. I think Wichita is stuck here in the Valley.

I don't know if you would even want to join that conference. You have to assume UCONN and Cincy will not stay in that conference. That leaves Memphis and a bunch of crap which probably isn't worth the extra travel.

The remaining Big East will never add a whole group of non-football schools again. It didn't work last time; why would it work with inferior schools again?

And Wichita does have a shot at the MWC. I'm not saying it's even remotely likely, but something's gotta be done about the Hawaii imbalance. They're either going to have to take them on as full members or find a non-football member. One of those 2 things HAS to happen.

Actually, no. Wichita State would have -20% (ie, less than 0%) chance to get in the MWC with their football team. The only, and I repeat, the only reason they are a candidate is because they are a non-football school that would be able to even out the conference's basketball divisions (necessary because it anything larger than 10 teams requires divisions in one form or another).

The same thing applies to the C7. The Shockers would have no chance with a BCS football team, and they have a 1% chance because they don't have one.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just add Hawaii as a full member.

From what I've heard, the costs are just prohibitive. That is the only reason they aren't a full member now, and the other sports wouldn't bring any revenue (while costing millions in travel costs to the league).

Think of the Gonzaga problem with the Big East, but the sports are not top quality, the travel is even more expensive, and Hawaii has no partner like Saint Mary's.

Yeah, flying to Hawaii is crazy expensive, they are in the Big West for other sports which forces them to fly just to California which is one stop while most of the MWC schools would require atleast 2 stops to get to and from Hawaii.

Why on earth would they add Hawaii as a full member? That is retarded.

The only sport they add revenue for is football. The rest of them are a HUGE money suck because of travel costs. The MWC has a dream scenario with them right now and will fight tooth and nail to keep it that way.

Anything greater than 10 teams requires divisions except for the A10, ACC, Big East, Big Sky, Big Ten, CAA, CUSA, MEAC, NEC, PAC12, and the SEC.
