Evansville Aces at Creighton University (12-29)

Postby Ace Dad » December 24th, 2012, 12:55 am

My first Valley game was during the 2000-2001 season when the Aces visited the Jays. It was ugly.

The last time I saw the Jays and Aces in person was at the MVC tournament last year. It was ugly.

I had planned on driving to Omaha, but based on the game being on ESPN3 and the possibility of snow, I decided thay my presence was probably bad karma, so I am not going to be there in person.

I am hoping we keep it under 12 points.

Ace Dad, are you still in Kansas? If you promise that kind of karma for your Aces, I bet we can send someone down to bring you to the game so you don't have to drive in the snow. We could use some help. Starting in 06-07, the games in Omaha have been: 79-74; 77-59; 89-84; 84-71; 75-69; and last years 93-92 overtime win. All are CU wins, but with a couple of exceptions, they have been barn-burners.

Hopefully, the fellas are a little more ready to play than they were against Tulsa.

How bad is my karma? I went to the tournament last year and had the stomach flu and watched the Aces beat the Bears on the hotel tv. The next night I went to the game in person and watched the Jays (the Varsity) play the Aces (the Junior Varsity). I could not believe how well you played and how poorly we played.

So, I am going to stay in Kansas and watch the game on ESPN3 ;)

I am hoping we can at least keep Creighton from playing their walk-ons during the last 5 minutes of the game. Our "in the paint" game is not MVC worthy, IMO. Etch, and Dougie, should have career nights. If Colt, and Balentine score 25 each, the Aces might keep it close. If not, forgetaboutit, and think about the next 17.

I am hoping the fellas on the hilltop don't think they can sleepwalk through this one like they did against Tulsa in the last game. I don't expect EU to be as careless with the ball or shoot as poorly as Tulsa. CU must bring its A game and get out of the gate clean this year. I fully expect Colt to go off for 30+, again  CU will need to not let anyone else go off, take advantage down low, and get a couple of our other shooters to step up.

Maybe I am still full of holiday cheer but I think the days of guys going off for season highs against the Jays are over. We hold Colt to under 20 and a festive Saturday night crowd goes home happy.

We are going to get in foul trouble trying to defend McD and the Big E inside. Based upon this reality, we will struggle to make this a game. CU over UE by 14.
