It seems like every year we have one team that just stinks it up in OOC and then "gets it" just in time for league play to start. This year it's MSU.

MSU will be tied for 3rd when the weekend is done. Utterly amazing...or something. It just can't look good to national analysts to see a team that lost to Alabama A & M tied for 3rd in what's supposed to be the 9th rated conference in the nation.

As a Bears fan I want to apologize for our poor non-con performance. With that said its gonna be fun to play spoiler from here on out.

We sure didn't look awful tonight on the road against a bigger and much more experienced team. We won't be able to compete against the top 4 or 5 valley teams but who knows about the rest?

They came within one point of beating Evansville in Evansville at the end of regulation, so I wouldn't say that.

The game at SIU promises to be interesting.

I disagree. The Bears went on the road to Evansville and played us even. They then go on the road and win in the Valley. There are no gimmee games in college basketball. MSU is better than their RPI shows and it is obvious that they are starting to jell. Meanwhile, look at Illinois State. When you are 0-3 in the Valley, your preconference resume starts to fade.

How can a team be better than what their RPI shows? Their RPI is what they are. They lost to Alabama A&M and didn't pick up a Division I win until the end of December. Their two Division I wins are Southern Illinois and Drake. Good for the Bears and their fans that they're winning games, but it's still not against the stiffest competition. And playing close with Evansville isn't something that catches the eyes of many either.
