The only piece I don't get is how a non-MSU fan could be that happy about it. But then again, the fan of that particular school is in that position so many times that he's probably just accustomed to it and that illogical line of thinking.

Welcome back, Bear fans.

I understand the frustration, I have had a similar opinion in the past. Just beat us and it won't really matter.

MSU winning doesn't hurt the MVC unless they beat teams that have a shot at the NCAA tournament - which ISUR boat left a week ago. In fact it would be a good thing for MSU to beat up on the lower tier teams and get its RPI up above 200 so teams in the conference can have 2 less 200+ rpi games.

I think we understand more than most. It was just 2 years ago we won the league with a 15-3 record, beat CU 3 times, beat WSU 2 times and didn't get in. We have had RPI's of 21, 34, 42, etc. and didn't get in. I don't recall teams non-con records during that time but I know we lost some games we shouldn't have. At the end of the day you have to beat who is in front of you and I have never come on here crying about teams non-con.

The surprising part to me is I thought this was a matchup that seriously favored Ill St. When MSU played down here, I told the people around me, that they would give most of the teams that play "small" fits. They switched to a lineup with Thurman and Pickens as their two biggest players and really gave us fits with the pick n roll and isolating our center out front. I really thought MSU would get manhandled against the bigger teams though, like CU, WSU and Ill St. Congrats Bears fans, enjoy it

I'm not sure. MSU could knock teams from sub 100 RPIs to over 100 RPIs, thereby eliminating a quality win from the resume of tourney caliber teams.

It is what it is. MSU should try to win every game with everything its got as should ISU and anyone that plays them. If it negatively impacts the RPI, well then so be it. Arguing about it now is pointless.

However, the reason we are in this mess is the same reason I am praying every night that we get into the C7. Schools like Drake and MSU (and others) are not investing in their basketball programs. The effects of that are being seen now. MSU would not invest in a good coach, he leaves, players leave, and you are left with a young team and unproven coach that tanks in the noncon then figures it out. That is not the players or the coaches or the fans fault. It is the ADs. Drake last night was the same way. I got a text halfway through the first half asking if Central HS was available for the second half. We might have gotten a better game. Again, not the players fault. There is some talent there, but the AD is not doing what it needs for long-term success.

People in recent days have lamented that CU will drop once McD leaves. We haven't finished below 4th since I don't know when. People are saying we will be the Evansville of the new conference, but forget that with an additional 3 mil a year, we can upgrade our recruiting, pay our assistants more, etc. Hard to imagine we would drop in competitiveness.

Like it or not, some MVC schools are mid-major because they do not invest in their programs at the same level as major or high-major schools. Not the fans fault, or the coaches, or the players, but definitely a reason we have 270+ rpis we have to play against.

I have always had a lot of respect for the Creighton program and unlike some others on here you guys have reason to talk some smack...BUT our program is decent and we are far from bottom feeders. I agree we need to pay our coaches more but even without that we have had 10 post season appearances and averaged right around 20 wins per season since we joined the Valley.
