Sorry, but godEarlygod was neither a god nor the best player in the Valley today. He was not the best player on the floor...that honor went to Colt Ryan.

Cle' was definitely not a god today. Colt Ryan was impressive. I suspect he is going to get at least a cup of coffee in the big leagues.

You don't watch much basketball do you? To think Colt Ryan has any chance of playing in the NBA is laughable, at best. He might get a year or 2 overseas, if he's lucky.

I am not sure Ryan can play in the NBA, but if Ahern can get a look Colt Ryan will get a look. Ryan has such a pure stroke that is hard to find.

As for best player in the MVC. I think all of McDermott, Early and Ryan are in this conversation. These are all great players. Each and every one of those players would start on any other team in the Valley. There is a lot of talent in this league right now.

I'll be honest, I still thought Early was the best player on the court. That is, when he was on the court. He took 7 shots to Ryan's 19, but ended up with only 8 less points despite playing 14 less minutes.

Wichita State needs to find ways to keep Early on the court though. One of his weaknesses is his tendency to pick up a couple of early fouls (like he did in both losses). He is probably their best offensive playmaker.

I think it is a pretty easy argument to make that one sign of a good player is being able to play without fouling. Either way, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Early had 4 TOs from the forward position leading to 4 UE points. Ryan did have 3 TOs that led to 2 WSU points, but he also had 8 assists that lead to 19 points. Ryan either scored or assisted on over 60% of UE's points.

Colt is 6'5", quick, and has one of the best shots I have seen. He was draining shots yesterday under INTENSE pressure. The last I heard, the NBA likes guards who can fill it up.

The problem with SoW is that he is undersized, underathletic, and underfast. To play forward in the NBA you have to be very athletic, or VERY large.

Agree with the comparison to Ahearn. Colt Ryan runs circles around Blake Ahearn. Colt makes baskets and is a decent defender. I think he'll get a cup of coffee.

Who said anything about Doug in the NBA? Now he obviously will play in the NBA but it's amazing how you felt the immense need to bring him into this conversation. Pretty childish if you ask me.

Back to Colt....Yeah he is a great shooter. The problem is, he needs 2, sometimes 3 off-ball screens to even get him open. Evansville's entire offense is entirely predicated on running screens for Colt to get him shots. This would NOT happen in the NBA. Also, Colt does nothing else well besides shoot. It takes way more than that to play in the NBA.

Maybe you remember Nate Funk? He was a pretty similar player to Colt, except he could also create his own shot off the dribble, and he shot the 3 better. He hasn't and he won't come close to sniffing the NBA. Colt won't either.

JaysFinal4 (nice nickname, like that's ever happened) - you do realize that Colt had 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals, right?
