According to AP Poll, Evansville is a bad loss:

Postby CBB_Fan » January 14th, 2013, 12:49 pm

Wichita State fell from #23 in the polls with 135 votes to #34 in the polls with 6 votes. That was the biggest drop I could see in any team.

Georgetown was the closest. They got blown out at home to unranked Pitt 73-45. They fell 9 spots and went from #19 to #28.

This is why Wichita State and Creighton want to leave the conference. Losing a close game on the road without 3 starters to a team tied for second in the conference is considered worse than losing by nearly 30 points at home in a good conference.

If Wichita State wins against Illinois State and loses to Creighton, they may drop out of the polls entirely. This is why we hate this conference. The teams are good enough to get wins on their own court and bad enough to get no respect for them.

Evansville could give any team in the nation fits at their home. They have a solid group of players and one big bright shining star in Colt. That being said, national name recognition means something. Hopefully they play with a chip on their shoulder the rest of the year and spank the Valley.

Hate is a strong word.
I'm glad you didn't say "I" hate this conference...if you did, you can just get off the message board and don't let the door slam you in the behind. You speak as though Wichita St. has never been in a position like some of the lower teams before. I have a lot of respect for the Shockers, but this elitist attitude I don't respect.

According to the AP poll, so is losing at New Mexico (now #19). Just ask UNLV.

Poll mechanics are moronic.

Last time I checked, Wichita State is free to leave at anytime. If its so hard and unfair being a member of this league we'd all be happy to point you towards the exit.

You could go independent and play the likes of NJIT, Longwood, and Utah Valley State three or four times per year...

Apparently WSU did not provide a lot of confidence with those who voted for them in the first place. The loss to UE may have only confirmed their suspeicions.

"Wichita State fell from #23 in the polls with 135 votes to #34 in the polls with 6 votes. That was the biggest drop I could see in any team."

Happens all the time.

"This is why Wichita State and Creighton want to leave the conference."

The next conference you go to will have 2-3 "dog" teams too. The Big East, the #2 ranked conference according to Nolan Rankings has South Florida at 95, Providence, at 97, and DePaul at 173. The top ranked conference, the Big Ten, has Northwestern at 105, Purdue at 147, and Penn State at 107.

"Losing a close game on the road without 3 starters to a team tied for second in the conference is considered worse than losing by nearly 30 points at home in a good conference."

Basketball is a team sport. You have 13 scholarship players. Everybody else has lost players due to injury, defection, academics, etc, etc. Stop your whining.

"If Wichita State wins against Illinois State and loses to Creighton, they may drop out of the polls entirely. "

Yup. Beat both teams.

"This is why we hate this conference. The teams are good enough to get wins on their own court and bad enough to get no respect for them."

You need to study college basketball a little bit more. The grass is not always greener over there. Being in the Valley may give you a better chance to get to the big dance then being an also ran in a bigger conference. Be careful what you ask for.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

Why don't you quit bitching and leave? No one around here is begging you to stay. Just pack your bags and go!

I am not slamming, but seriously, have you made a single post which makes the least bit of sense?

The Evansville RPI is currently at 77. That's a tough road win for anyone. This notion that the Valley is holding you back is silly. I realize you aren't old enough to remember, but your Shockers spent the Clinton and Bush years being the boat anchor in this league. Being in a "better" conference doesn't help your NCAA appearances.Butler has played in two National Championship games coming from a far weaker conference. Where do you think you will be going anyway? You probably have the least chance of anyone from leaving.

I would prefer to see the Valley teams getting better, not laying down for two teams. We had 4 bids in 06 and 1 auto qualifier. If we get 5 or more teams with RPI's below 100, a few road losses won't hold you back.

There are alot of schools in BCS conferences that haven't sniffed a NCAA win since just about anyone in the Valley. You want to go be one of them, then as the others have said, don't let the door hit you in the (*@

Who was the President in the late 90's when WSU finished third at least once?
Who was the President in 2006, the year WSU advanced to the Sweet Sixteen and won a conference title?

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.
Random MVCFans.com member, circa 2007: "Gregg Marshall is in over his head in this conference."
