The Zebras

I've watched alot of college basketball. The refs in other conference aren't even close to the fools of the MVC.

It isn't just that they call a game one way, nope , It's like they haven't even glanced at the rules. Inconsistent calls have the players in the league in the dark about what is or isn't a foul.
It is not just at the start of a game but within 5 minutes going either way.

Is there a website that tell who is reffing the game prior to it's start.
Maybe then the players can see who is going to screw them before the game.

Completely and totally disagree.

The Valley gets high level guys that go deep into the tournament every year. Give me John Higgins, Scott Thornley, or Mark Whitehead anytime. Those three and a few others that consistently do games in this league to a solid consistent job.

Watch Big East games, those guys are intolerable.

The guys who work MVC games usually work a combination of Midwestern conferences like the Big Ten, Big XII, Conf. USA, Horizon League, etc.

Some of them aren't great, and some are good or great and have bad nights. Personally, I think several of them work too many games. But if you limit their games, you have to accept more new guys who don't have as much experience. Would you rather have an up and coming official working his first year out of the JuCo and D-2/D-3 ranks, or Higgins working his 6th game in 7 days in 5 different states? I lean toward giving the new guys a chance, but that's probably because I'm friends with a couple of them.

They are going to have to find a way to get younger. I read somewhere that the average age of NCAA Tournament officials last year was 54 and that the youngest guy that got a game was 39. Once your older group starts to retire, and they have (Curtis Shaw, Steve Welmer, JD Collins, Steve Olson), they have to have guys with experience ready to step in.

I find that the refs suck during Creighton games and, amazingly, are just fine when I watch other games with no dog in the fight. Amazing how that works.

That said, Colt got tied up and it should have been a jump ball late in yesterday's game. Who would have had the ball if that was called? Also, WSU plays in your shorts defense so sends the other team to the line a lot, you live with it as a Shocker fan as that's the team MO.

My point is that this year it just looks as the officials are making bad calls more consistenly than the right call thoughout the MVC perhaps the B1G, SEC officials allow more than less Just perhaps it's a perception issue.

How are the referee assigned games and is there a site that provides the information prior to the games.

As a gambler, I would like to know in advance who is officating

Had Anthony fouled out by that point?

Referees were a discussion on Bear nation a while back and it was stated by someone who seemed knowledgeable that there aren't certain referees assigned to the MVC at all. That we have the same referees from a "pool" that also includes the Big 12 and other conferences. Is that not correct? I have no idea how referees are hired or assigned.

I find the refereeing in our conference fairly inconsistent too. Obviously there's always somewhat of a fanbase bias towards our own teams and its probably not nearly as bad as it seems at times.
