My guess is the spread will open even or WSU -1, by game time the line probably moves to CU -1, 1.5 or 2.

Should be an interesting day in Koch arena on Saturday, if we turn the ball over like we have the last couple games it'll be hard for us to come out with a W. Defense will have to come up big and be in the face of all the CU shooters. I was going to say keep Doug under/around 15 pts and i'd be happy but my guess is if we do keep him in that range or less someone else will go off. Hall and O are gonna have to have good games down low and we're going to have to get the inside game going early. Hall looked pretty solid for his first game back but his offense will have to get back to normal in this game. That being said, i'm gonna be optimistic and take WSU to win by 2.

No, I'm saying that McDermott was not the reason they won. They did not win because he scored 30 points and single-handedly beat Wichita State, they won because a variety of guys stepped up (Yates I believe was the points leader in their win).

I am more concerned about Wragge going 5-7 from three than I am about Doug getting his points.

Jays should open as a slight favorite. Doug will be Doug and get his points. If we hit shots at average or above I feel pretty good we get out with a "W". If we struggle hitting shots ball game on.

I think you mean Young, but your point is valid.

You are right. Pretty amazing that a high school senior supposedly led them in points without even being on the team at the time.

Anyway, I'm just afraid Wichita State will play great defense and Creighton will still make what Wichita State gives them. In order to win right now, I think the following needs to happen

1. Low TOs and fouls for the Shockers
2. Paint control (don't give up easy shots to Doug and Echenique, don't give up second chance shots)
3. Keep Creighton outside and hope they have a mediocre or bad shooting night
4. Push the pace. Wichita State is at their best when they shoot in the first half of the shot-clock.

If the game is a half-court game with a lot of mistakes by the Shockers, it could be bad. Especially if Creighton has one of their "on" nights. Hopefully they shoot like they did against in the second half of their last game.

Last game 2nd half? I'll take it. 0-4 from 3, BUT shot 57% from the field and scored 42 points. :D

Thank you for recognizing my brilliance, but no need for applause.

Thank you for making my point for me. You assumed two games created a trend (Wichita State against good players), and ignored the games where Wichita State HAS shut down an opposing teams best player, including every Shocker-Bluejays game last year (and also Doug's games as a freshmen).

So please list each key player from the Mvc teams played and what their average was, and what they scored.

I do agree my pessimism is alot based on how these team is handling the ball. It almost like this team has hit a wall and the question is are they going to push past it or is this it.

This Saturday's game is the first MVC game I am somewhat excited about. Granted, BJ is just another mid-major team full of unathletic players that like to jack up 3-balls, but at least they are a ranked mid-major team full of unathletic players.

Wichita State plays to the level of their competition and they have been getting bored lately. Rest assured, the Shocker team that played last night (or against Evansville) won't be the Shocker team that shows up Saturday. Creighton is going to have its hands full. It will be fun watching how far back they start shooting the three balls.

And I am HOPING that SoW shows me something this year. The last time I watched him play was last year's game in Omaha were he stood around helpless and watched us boat race his team in front of a sold out home crowd. I personally don't think he is that talented of a player (his effort is 110% though) - something that flies in the face of a lot of people's opinions right now. I want SoW to shut me up with an outstanding performance Saturday. If SoW gets lost in the madness and looks spastic and uncoordinated like he did last year when I watched him, I am going to continue to think he is overrated and laugh at any comments about the NBA.

If the Shockers win, it will be because it put up more shots. A lot more.

Possessions will be very important for the Shockers. It means the Shockers must win the rebound, turnover and personal foul stat lines. The Shocks rebound well, but not so much in the other two categories.

I told Señora Rio last night that the Blue Birds will win by 15 and I am sticking to it.
