I expected the Shockers to win the game Saturday, but I didn't expect them to win playing as poorly as they did. If they can shoot the ball even half-assed next meeting, they will blow the doors down in Omaha like they did last year.

Club BJ is a team of unathletic, hot-shooting white boys. They look mid-major in person as well as on T.V. EXCEPT for one player and his name is Gregory "The Cyclops" Eekieneekie. He is greatly improved over last year and I like his attitude. He is a dirty player no doubt (as are a few other BJ's..), but he is a man and has BCS oozing from his pores. BJ fans should be thanking St. Peter that Cy had one of his eyeballs popped while playing for Rutgers so they had a chance at him. Even with one eye, he is still a load.

Grant Gibbs will forever be called SloMo. He has to be the slowest player I have ever seen play basketball in Koch Arena. Early in the game he was able to turn the corner (in the slowest manner imaginable) and drive to the basket. I think his lack of speed was akin to a change-up for our defenders. They figured he was just slowing down to pass when in fact he was full throttle to the basket. I can't explain any other way how he was able to get to the hole on several occasions.

SoW... *sigh* I'm trying to be the big man here. I know he got his season average in our building. I know I asked him to show me something. I know he was defended VERY WELL. But something about his game just screams garbage ball to me. His shots look like prayers that go in. He reminds me of the player that always burns WSU by having their game of the year in our building. The difference with SoW is he does it every game. His fadeaway shots look like B.S. but he always makes them. And he makes them in high numbers. He is unathletic, slow, but hard-working, and has apparently perfected the unblockable, offbalance, fadeaway shot.

SoW is not very big, he is not very strong, and he doesn't play defense. What he has is great work ethic, a tremendous shooting touch, and a coach that designs the entire team strategy around him... with no high-scoring athletic teammates to steal his thunder. If Cleanthony was a BJ.... (just a second, I threw up in my mouth a little), SoW would have to share the ball a bit more because the entire dynamic of how BJ plays ball would change.

SoW is not as big as Larry Bird, and I don't know if he is as good of a passer, but if he maintains his uncanny shooting touch, I suspect he could play in the NBA. I don't know if he will be able to develop into a Korver type, but he should get a shot. He certainly won't be earning a living in the paint in the NBA.

I saw a couple BJ fans walking around the concourse. I hope all Nebraskans aren't that ugly...

Classy post Cold... Every fan base has their clowns - and your post proves there is at least one on this board. I hope you don't actually believe what you post. Not saying the Bluejay fan base doesn't have it's share of clowns as well (to those that posted that on Bluejay Cafe that the refs "gave" WSU the game yesterday, they are way off base).

Shocks are a bunch of brick layers and jm and Ethan will not resemble the shocks masonry work next time. Gibbs has more basketball iq than the entire shocks team combined.

Question, how bad would the shocks blow out another team of slow, athletically challenged players like Butler has? 20 or 30 point win?

McDermott had more than his average actually, must have been really, really lucky yesterday!

If Gibbs has more basketball IQ than the entire shocks team combined, it first makes you a tool. Second, it makes your team look incredibly incompetent losing to us. Hell, i would likely call for G-derms head if he coached a team that lost to such a dumb team.

You played the worst game of the year because you played us, which had something to do with you playing bad. I hope I'm not going to fast for you. You could have won easily if a couple of plays went differently...well apparently "if" didn't suit up for you in this game. I could easily make the argument our 38% shooting, 17% from 3 and 47% FT shooting got in the way of us winning by about 20. This was a hard fought basketball game between two excellent programs. We won...this time. Next time in Omaha it could very well be different. Stay tuned.

Don't forget Jays26 and LJay. Those that had the most to say pregame are no where to be found postgame. I'm concerned about their whereabouts.

You have CU posters that rarely post come here offering their opinions, perspectives, and congrats and then you have those that speak the most having issues logging onto MVCfans today. Must be a bitter pill to swallow.

I realize you're trying to one-up Cold due to his attack and you wanted to fire one back to him, but this struck me. Like I stated earlier, I think Gibbs is a good basketball player. High IQ players typically know that they can't foul 5 times in a game and not help the team.

Haven't read the thread yet, but was impressed with WSU's offensive rebounding.

CU did three things in this game we haven't really done all year: turned over the ball, missed free throws and allowed opponent to get offensive rebounds.

Despite playing one of our worst games in a tough environment, Wragge makes one of the two threes he usually makes and the game goes to OT. I had this game chalked up as a loss prior to the season, so I'm not all that distraught. I never expected CU to go undefeated in conference.

Doug played better than he has against WSU previously as well.

We will certainly have to improve our box outs prior to the rematch. On to Drake Tuesday.

DJA, you nailed the reasons CU lost right on the head. If you would have told me the Jays would turn the ball over 14 times, shoot 10 for 17 from the charity stripe, and give up 22 offensive rebounds to the Shockers at Koch Arena - and I would have guessed CU would have lost this game by double digits. Add in the fact that Manigat was nowhere to be found in this game, other that his 5 fouls and those things were too much for the Jays to overcome on the road.

Good thing is that losing this game may help focus the Jays the rest of the way, that's the beauty of it... If CU can avoid a stumble or two through the rest of conference play and take care of the Shockers at home in early March, this game won't come in play to affect CU's seed come tourney time. I feel that this game was more of a statement game for WSU and most definitely proves that the Shockers should and will be in the tourney, and probably an 8-9 seed or "better."

Well CU actually should have. WSU missed a couple easy put backs on offensive board that should have went in. They had about 3-3pters that where almost down that came back out. I won't even talk about the terrible FT shooting that kept CU in the game because they had their own problems there.

I cam away with McD is a really, really good shooter. He's a maker and when you have a maker you just need to put a bunch of role players around him. But you take McD away - they are just a UNI or Evansville or ISUB

The Blue Birds had the lead for exactly 10 seconds.

3, you got owned. And, I hope the Shockers can help Creighton get focused after another loss in Omaha.
