New C7 Board

Postby NJRedman » January 19th, 2013, 8:59 pm

Hey guys, there is a new message board for the fans of the current C7 schools and the possible new addition schools. We talk about our present and possible future. Come on by and give us your opinion. All are welcome to stop by and talk roundball with the C7 fans and those of prospective members.

And why would we want to do that?

So you can see some of the WSU fans on their knees begging to get in.

I'm more interested in the new Jewish only league, the Muslim conference and the new Asian league.

I think that I might be the only Shocker fan, who would like to see the Shockers in the new Catholic league.

Most seem to favor the Mountain West.

It may be that all of the other Shocker fans know there is about 0.000001% chance of WSU getting into the new Catholic league.

I wouldn't necessarily say that, but I would say that Shocker fans know that there are so many unkowns when it comes to the Catholic league that none have really expected an invite yet.

Does it wish to remain a "Catholic" league? Does it wish to remain a private institution only league?

Or is it focused more on strong basketball oriented athletic departments that don't let football drive every decision?

Geography is immaterial, especially if Creighton is included. The television market is immaterial: Wichita's market isn't anything worth going after if you already have the market the C7 has, but it's nothing to sneeze at, either. Fan support is most likely immaterial, too: any team the C7 would go after would probably have strong fan support that travels to away or neutral games, so the fact that WSU has a strong contingent that are willing to pony up to travel isn't necessarily an advantage over any other school in the "running."

Myself, I don't expect an invite. There are too many viable Catholic Universities available that, all other things being equal, the C7 would take over WSU simply to keep things Catholic.
