What's the break down on the expenses? Rent, recruiting, salary?

No matter how hard you parse the figures, it seems unlikely to make things look better for MSU. We already know that MSU pays Lusk peanuts.

UNI is only a few hundred thousand ahead of the next group. Although they don't pay Ben J what he is worth, they pay him more than the schools below...which is probably the majority of the difference.

NDSU has the capacity to increase that number greatly. SDSU, not so much.

That program is relevant because of Nate Wolters. Its going to get ugly after he graduates this spring.

I don't know about that, they are pretty firmly attached to their football program, and that's where all the money goes. I don't really see where the basketball support would come from, because it certainly would not come at the expense of football. They definitely have some cash flow within their department, much more so than many of the other candidates, but NDSU is pretty much a football only school. I don't see any benefit of adding their basketball program to this conference.

You always bring up their arena, that if they were to be in the Valley, they would build this new fancy arena. That's not true. They have plans in place, but those plans are not to build a new arena. They are only to renovate their complete joke of a gym that they have right now. Even then, it would be at the bottom of the Valley most likely.

With that said, I have stated time and time again that I do believe that the MVC will go up to the Dakota's for expansion whenever it is needed/desired. I don't want it, I would hate it, and think it would be a lazy decision. But I firmly believe that it will be the case, because a) they want in more than anything, and b) its just easy for the Valley.

I hate this as much as the next guy but...

My best friend is marrying a girl whose father has been president of their booster club on a couple of occasions. It does tear me up that my best friend is marrying a bizzzzzon

They have a donor lined up with the exact stipulation that they get into the valley and he writes a big check. NDSU has the drive and the resources to compete in this league.

And being in a league that allows games to be held in the Knapp Center, and formerly the UNI-Dome, doesn't give us much of a leg to stand on as far as arena standards...

Yeah, that's all good in theory. Doesn't mean it will be the case. Its going to take more than a couple donors to transform that basketball program into something that is worth adding. To that point, if their ceiling is mid-pack in the conference then whats the point of bringing them on board in the first place?

They are not a football school in the sense that UNI is a football school. They are a football school like Montana, Georgia Southern, and App State are football schools. That is not a good fit in the Valley IMO.

And I think you are underselling the arena factor. I mean seriously, this is where they play right now and all they have planned is to renovate this place. There is no renovation that can shine this building up. C'mon, the UNI Dome and even the Krapp Center are miles better than this place.

Yikes, that arena is high-school-tastic. NO to the XDSU's and I'm tired of having this discussion. Move on.

To me, candidates to replace Creighton are strictly limited to the University of Denver and any of the top-performing Horizon schools. This isn't rocket science.
