Per local newspaper in Logan, UT, Illinois State is indeed biting the bullet and playing at Utah State.

EXCELLENT get. EXCELLENT.

Our team that needed it the most got the worst draw. ISUB is the true definiton of a bubble team and they reward them with a 100 RPI team from the MAAC? All so they could make sure St. Mary's got the primetime matchup with Creighton. In reality that spot should of gone to Belmont. Wichita getting Detriot is a nice game though

MVC takes it up the butt, perhaps worse than expected.

Jays and Trees fans should be furious...especially Indiana State. Getting Iona is just awful.

The Sycamores got royally screwed. I hope Lansing goes on Katz Korner tomorrow on ESPNU and goes nuts. Not that it would do any good, but this is an absolute slap in the face from this selection committee. Now, if the Sycamores win it wont be called a good win, but if we happen to lose it will be a bad loss. Iona is barely clinging onto a top 100 rpi and it will only go down with the poor teams remaining on their schedule.

Indiana St should be really pissed about ESPN and Murray State. They wanted Canaan on an ESPN2 game at all costs, no matter what. That pushed South Dakota St to Murray St and Detroit to Wichita St....Indiana St at the least needed one of SDSU and Detroit (or NDSU, who drew Akron), to fall to them.

Getting the star player on TV was more important that bracket impact, which goes against the very spirit of the competition.

The 3 MVC teams contending for at-large bids received the following treatment (RPI in parentheses):

WSU (26) v. Detroit (72)- Difference of 46

Creighton (28) at St. Mary's (58)- Difference of 30

Indiana State (52) v. Iona (96)- Difference of 44

The good news is Iona has name recognition and a realistic chance at a league title and top 100 RPI. The bad news is they could easily finish 4th in the MAAC and be outside the top 100. ISU needed someone from the next tier up.

Illinois St should be ecstatic. The Iowa schools did alright. Not great, but content. SIU got a reasonable opponent.

No one else should probably be happy about anything here. Creighton did lose out on Belmont but a road win at St Marys WILLE have profile impact. WSU was never going to get anything useful. Evansville probably should be on TV, all things equal, but Wright St isn't a terrible opponent in a vacuum. Bradley playing a road game at a Horizon for the 174th time in the last 10 years. Missouri St, a team that has problems with the non-con SoS, could've used a lot better than CMU in the future.

This is a good example for why this event needed to die.

Creighton @ St. Mary's: "Congratulations, you got a tough road game that will you nothing if you win but hurt you a lot if you lose. Yay!"

Indiana State vs Iona: "Hey, I heard you needed to build a resume to be an at-large team. Here's a team that won't help you at all but could single-handedly knock you out of consideration! Isn't that great?"

Wichita State vs Detroit: "Well, actually there really were no good schools. Like, none. Not a team with a chance to go to the tournament. Sucks really that you had to actually have a decent RPI, but hopefully this game can fix that, right?"

None of the MVC schools with a chance to go to the tournament got a good draw. For Wichita State, that at least can be explained by the very low quality of the non-MVC away teams, so they weren't going to get anyone with an RPI better than about 65. Creighton and InSU definitely have to be unhappy though.

Indiana State currently Lunardi's last team in, as unveiled during halftime of Iowa State v. OU on ESPNU.

I know they only have like 4 fans on here, but geez they should all be so megapissed about this draw.
