If BU somehow happens to steal a victory over the Birds tonight in Normal, Coach Ford is the frontrunner for COY, with Marshall close behind.

Kudos to Lusk for turning things around after an abysmal non-conference of 0 wins!

I can't remember a season with this much parity. Both strong and weak from top to bottom.

Phelps should get this hands down. He has not only exceeded expectations this season (currently in 9th with a significant lead over 10th place SIU) but has done it year in and year out, leading the Bulldogs to 4 straight Thursday night games. Phelps has proven that he can get it done both on and off the court. The fact that he has been passed over for COY in the past is inexcuseable, but will make this years award that much sweeter.

I love you, Drakey.

Happy Valentine's Day.

I always look forward to your posts and I am being serious.

I do not know of any Bulldog poster on this fine forum, who supports Coach Phelps for COY.

WSU was picked for 4th, lost 3 starters to injuries. Over the course of the season, lost 5 starters to injuries for varying periods of time.

Compare that to the second-place team right now. Graduated 1 player from the second-place team, have a National POY candidate, returned the Valley DPoY, have a guy with an insane A/TO ratio, have a guy with one of the nations best 3-pt %'s. Was the overwhelming pick to win the Valley - and most expected a decent separation.

One of the teams picked to finish 2nd or 3rd appears to have a chance to finish 3rd in the league. I find it hard to pick the coach of a team not in the top 2 and at or below the pre-season pick, to get CoY.

My top 3 picks for CoY are Marshall, Hinson, and Lusk. Those 3 have done more with what they had on their rosters than the rest. Ford is right there with that group, but he had more talent than Hinson and Lusk.

So no Lansing? Indiana State was predicted 7th and returned 1 starter from last year (Odum).

February 18

Still the leader in the league standings
Still the leader for MVC Coach of the Year

Give it up for the man some said was "in over his head in this league"...
Give it up for the one you love and love to hate:

Gregg Marshall
Random MVCFans.com member, circa 2007: "Gregg Marshall is in over his head in this conference."
