you make a mistake taking one or two posters and then applying that across the whole fan base. All you have to look at is a map of D1 schools - WSU is not going anywhere with the current league situation.

I don't know if Creighton will get an invite, given the growing indications that 10 is the preference for the short-term. But, if they did, there is 0% chance that it isn't drastically positive in a cost/benefit scenario. Simply from media alone Creighton would receive 2-3 million INCREMENTALLY. There's also be gains from licencing, etc.

Would WSU REALLY be better off in a different league? Would the Jays REALLY be better off in the C7? I get it---it's nice to feel "wanted". I'm just not sure if a real cost analysis study was done that moving leagues would be beneficial in the end.

Indications would be that we would get $2-$3 Million a year in TV money, up from $400K we currently get. Based on membership, the C7+ would land 5-6 bids this year, each with revenue share money. So, even if we lose every game, yes, the ROI is there.

However, there are no indications that we would get worse with access to more money and recruiting beds. No one ever said we would roll the C7 or even win the league, regardless of the baiting comments, but likewise no one has ever come up with a good reason to turn down the offer if it comes.

And, once again, I like the MVC. I wish we could stay. But the above facts make that next to impossible should we get the offer.

I think Creighton needs them to decide 12 is the number to get an invite right away.

I think Butler, Xavier, and Richmond make the cut at 10.

Creighton and SLU are the adds at 12.

Elgin needs to get Dayton on the phone, ASAP...

But Creighton would be on an island right? You're talking about going from a bus league to a league where you'll have to fly all your sports teams to the East Coast multiple times. That has to add up.

Even if that offset the $2-3 million, I would still do it for the increased exposure.

If it's 10 teams, I bet Creighton is left out. The MVC should make a play for SLU and Dayton if they're left out too.

If St Louis and Dayton are left behind, the MVC should make a power play there.

But remember, I think the A-10 would make a power play at some midwest schools itself in that case to protect those two. Some combination of Detroit, Valpo, Milwaukee, heck who knows, Belmont, ....and I also think Bradley and Drake would be on their radar somewhere.

It really depends how dinged up the A-10 gets here. Richmond could be a key - protect Creighton from leaving AND be another blow to the A-10's power rating. Of course VCU too.

This recent discussion makes so much more sense than the Dakota folks who have invaded our web-site over the last week.

Saw an article on the Holy Land site from John Feinstein of the Washington Post that says Creighton will not be included due to distance for non revenue sports. While that would disappoint a lot of Bluejays I don't think it would surprise any of them either.

The western conference would consist of Marquette, DePaul, Saint Louis, Xavier, Dayton and Butler. If Butler decides not to leave the Atlantic 10 — which it joined only this season — or if the presidents decide to go with Catholic schools only, the University of Detroit Mercy would come into the picture. Creighton, another Catholic school considered a potential candidate, is considered too far west (Omaha, Neb.) for teams in non-revenue sports to travel.

Of all the things, travel distance shocks me.

Milwaukee, Chicago, and Saint Louis are not far but I guess Omaha would still be the most Western by a state width.
