I will still say it was completely unnecessary by Carmichael to raise his foot like that. Just invited a call with the emphasis on safety. Illinois State fans will complain about the call, Wichita fans would have an equal right to complain had it not been called.

That was one crazy ending! I'm not sure I've ever seen anything quite like that "foot foul" on Carmichael. I thought a flagrant 1 was probably correct.

It was. Carmichael looked at the player and then extended his foot. He did not extend the foot to balance himself. He extended the foot to ward off the player. He did not extend the foot to hurt the Redbird player. However, kicking a player above the shoulder cannot be tolerated. Flagrant 1 was the right call. I was rooting for the Redbirds.
