Valley Parity: 5 Good Teams or 5 OK Teams?

Postby Ace Dad » February 17th, 2013, 9:37 pm

I am going to go on a limb and give several of you an opportunity to tell me to put down the Valley Kool-Aid. Typically, we assume that parity means that the top 1-7 teams are average because no team can pull away. I understand how that happens. However, after watching all the teams this year, my "eye test" tells me that we have some pretty good teams beating up on each other and I believe that 5 of our teams could win a 1st round NCAA game.

Am I drinking too much Valley kool aid?

I agree with your assessment. Unfortunately all the close losses earlier in the year gives us a max of 3 chances.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

The Valley needs to make a statement next Saturday.

Sure the top 5 could win a NCAA game, unfortunately, the majority of the teams in this league s*** the bed during non-conference play so it won't happen and that's why when people see top teams falling left and right, we call it parity, they call it crappy losses.

It seems anything can happen on any night/day any more. Nothing surprises me.

whatever it is this is the craziest Valley basketball year ive ever witnessed . The worst team to start conference play might be the best team now. The best team to begin, has now lost 5 of last 9, Indiana State wins all the games they shuldnt and loses all the games they should win, SIU only has like 3 conference wins but theyve beaten 2 of the top 3 conference teams. There is always plenty of upsets in this league, but not the kind of crazy things like this year.

I believe that ISU Red is as dangerous as WSU or CU right now and has the pieces and parts for match ups at the guard, forward, and post positions. I am not smart enough on bench depth.

It happens every year, but this year has ben especially bad.

The worst part was MSU failing to win a single division one game prior to conference play and then proceeding to knock off a handful of good teams. This makes the MVC look like a terrible league.
