Please less shockers and more stone throwing haters to be posting.

Go shox!

I agree. This thread had great potential for contributions to the VT Quote Hall of Shame. We need fewer posts from Shocker fans and more jealousy-driven hate posted by Illinois State fans or other fans who love to dogpile at every opportunity.

I'm sure there's plenty of blame to go around here, but can we stop excusing poor behavior because our favorite school happened to be the one exhibiting it?

If fans were throwing objects at the WSU players, that's criminal and reprehensible. If fans were throwing objects they should be identified, arrested and banned from the arena.

If WSU coaches were taunting/jawing with a former assistant and/or the crowd, that's petty, unprofessional, and reprehensible. If coaches were taunting former assistants for leaving, they're clowns and disingenuous.

If it indeed spilled into the locker room area and there were scuffles between players/staffs, that's a lack of control by both schools and reprehensible. Both sides should be ashamed. It's a basketball game. Sure guys are competitive, but crossing the line into physical or nearly physical altercations has no business in the game or after the game. Teams are a reflection of those who lead them.

But it is wsu fault?

Conveniently leaving out the taunting by Wichita personnel as soon as handshakes ended huh? It was right there on TV

show me proof genius

Watch the replay of the ending. Like I said it's right there on TV. Anyone who tuned into ESPNU or WatchESPN beyond the handshakes saw Hall turn to fans and start taunting them due to their booing of officials/Shockers (takes a real genius to figure that out, I know, thank you).

I'm not saying that the Redbird faithful are innocent but most MVC teams deal with similar treatment (harassment from rowdy fans) throughout the season and the Shox players (and asst. coaches for goodness sake!) should be smart enough to just filter it and get to the locker room.

It's somewhat telling of character when you get pushed and bullied around for 39 mins of basketball, win due to your opponents stupidity and then go ahead and start taunting this already extremely incensed crowd. I'd like to see proof of items being thrown at the Shockers. So far it's all heresay from one Shocker poster while everything else being discussed can be seen on TV or there is report of an actual confrontation. Nothing about items being thrown and yet this is apparently the springboard for Jans and Shocker players to be confronting and taunting fans.

They should've just cleared out of there and left with their heads held high from that remarkable comeback. Then Jackie Carmichael and the character of that young man would be the only topic of discussion

:+1:

Both sides should be held accountable for their actions. Supposedly Redbird fans (and one high-flying player) did their part in this feud. Wichita State representatives certainly did not help the situation.

Suellentrop, the WSU beat writer, reported that what happened after the game is under investigation.

I love the way WSU plays the game. If Marshall is an @ss, so be it. People only care because his teams are dominating the league. Jim Les was an @ss, but no one gave 2 sh-ts about him or his act because we sucked.

There were clearly high emotions on both sides at the end of last night's game. Seems like the emotions are a lot more between the coaching staffs and fans than the actual players. Carmichael may have executed the 'kick', but beyond that I didn't see too much chippy or borderline dirty play by either team, although Carmichael did kind of 2-hand shove Hall before going up for that last infamous rebound. Maybe it was there the whole game, I would have to go back and look at the tape.

Arch Madness is going to be great.

It's understandable why objects were thrown at the game. I would suspect that most Redbird fans in the stands last night have little idea how to act in a college basketball game considering they never attend them.

I will tell you this, had I been on the receiving end of thrown objects, I would have reported them to authorities and pressed charges. The situation could have become explosive and serious injuries could have been inflicted.

Actually it is really the other way around. Wsu had a very bad 4
Minutes in the first half they had to spend digging out of - but remove those 4 minutes and wsu dominated, frustrated, and owned ISU. That is why Carmichael went Kung Phoey on cotton.
