Can he display more class? Probably.

Does it ruffle my feathers if he makes a few people angry after a win? Absolutely not. As long as everyone on the team (coaches and players alike) stay out of legal and academic trouble I don't really mind a few heated words after a game like that.

Marshall should show as much class as is possible without impacting his ability to win the next 20 regular season and post-season conference titles and advance to 10 Final Fours. Face it, everyone is just a little intimidated by him and he really hasn't really hit his stride yet. He probably won't feel even slightly satisfied until he has owned the Valley like he did the Big South for 9 years. Buckle up.

From a Winthrop fan. I call it a prediction of the future.

"That is exactly what it was like Gregg's final few seasons at Winthrop. Every other team in the conference hated us. And it was because of one simple reason. They couldn't beat us. One school, High Point University (and I assure you, they use the word "university" loosely when referring to this school) even set up banners all along the side of the highway talking crap about the team so that our players would have to see them when the bus drove in to town. We had to take everyone's best shot because they all hated us. It was by far the most fun I have ever had as a fan! The lumberjacks, Sillynois, all of the also-rans in the MVC will play their best games against you. On the one hand, it will make winning conference championships that much tougher. Even if they manage to hang on to win the MVC again, it will be the first time WSU has won back to back titles in 58 years. 58 years!!! We are only four years removed from Gregg finishing in the bottom half of the league and only five years removed from Gregg being a Thursday team in St Louis.

You kind of are making WSU fans' points. WSU is unlikely to smell the bottom half or Thursday in STL while Gregg is coach. It is likely to only get better.

Gregg is emotional but I will take that over robot Jacobsen anyday. We need more color and interesting things in the MVC.

Oh, and the 58 years? I suggest you brush up on your arithmetic. It's been 48 years. (1964-65)

You make some good points and have some good questions as well. Firstly I must add that this is a message board and therefore I am clearly interjecting my opinions into the equation. I know very little in the way of facts on this particular incident. Only what I saw on television, coupled with a newspaper report, and what I read on an ISURed forum. Then I filled in the gaps with what I THINK could have happened. It is not exact.

ISURed sanctions: If they are found guilty of widespread throwing of projectiles at players then I suggest the Valley take a page out of the UEFA soccer playbook and make them play a home game without the luxury of having fan support. Just allow the coaches, players, referees, and other essential administrators for a single home game.

WSU sanctions: If Jans or Marshall are found guilty of accosting an opposing coach, player, or administrator be it a verbal or physical incident--and I have heard a couple of accounts--then they should be suspended a single game as well. I wouldn't punish Hall or the WSU players because they are merely doing what their coaches clearly condone.

Why not suspend Brown for hanging on the rim and tauntingly fist pumping? Why not suspend Wilkins last year for his thuggery of Stutz and trying to get him tossed from the game? Why not suspend Carmichael for his "intentional" kick to Cotton? You are a dweeb.
