Carry on.

I don't hate anyone.

Not sure why you feel the need to hate people over basketball. Sounds like a problem with your emotional maturity, though.

I could care less about any ISU fan or ISU in general. I just don't want WSU players to be kicked in the damn face.

Bizarre, I know.

It's amazing to me how many ISU fans are seriously sitting here and saying that kicking someone in the chest is okay.

"It's okay, because he ONLY kicked him in the chest!!"

I'd like to see a photo of Carmichael with his foot up like that in a rebound attempt.

Ever.

In his entire career.

Show me one. The one on the ISU message board isn't even at half that angle. Show me a picture where his leg is extended 80 degrees in front of him even once in his career other than last night, let alone "half the time."

Weren't the Redbird fans the same way last year when Wilkins kicked Stutz between the legs? Wilkins was going after him in a pretty thuggish matter. Garrett was too nice but this year's team won't over react but they won't back down either.

I think Redbird fans have selective amnesia. I can't believe I've liked and defended a fanbase that turned out to be as brutal as this one. I remember SIU fans ripping on Redbird fans for how classless and horrible they were. I remember defending the Redbird fans.

Well, now I've seen the light, err dark.

Sorry, I skipped over most of this conversation, and probably missed a lot, but I find it somewhat disconcerting that so many of these fouls are going uncalled. I watched the CU/WSU game and as soon as they showed the replay I knew that they would call the F1 against Gibbs. They went by the book and it was correct. I saw the rebound by JC and thought it was a foul but nothing got called. In both situations an F1 was called after review, but nothing was called during the play. I don't disagree with the result in either play, but why aren't professional refs able to see these things when they happen? Maybe refs are blocked out from time to time, but it seems like there are a lot of F1 calls that aren't called fouls to begin with...

Refereeing is harder than it looks, its hard to see everything live , as ur looking at their feet for travel calls and sometimes u cant be focused on everything at the same time.
As far as shocker fans calling redbird fans this and that, if it happened to your team, any of our teams, we would all be doing the same thing the redbird fans are doing. Also as far as this talk about the shox acting like thugs or what have you, not all teams have players that would do this kind of thing, but all of our programs at one point or another have had a player or two that would do similar things. These guys are 20 years old its not a big deal to me.
The only thing that i really disagree with is why Early was allowed to shoot the free throws instead of Cotton. This could of been the difference in the game.
And also i have to disagree with Acedad calling the shox the "envy of the valley". Wether you look at the entire history of the league, or just at the last 10 or 20 years, the shox have never been consistently one of the best teams in the league. Creighton and SIU definately have been consistently better teams then WSU. And Missouri State and Illinois State probably as well. I do respect the shox fanbase, as ive been to a couple games in Wichita and most of the fans have been respectful down to earth people.

Comparing CU to WSU, In the last 15 years-

Conference Titles CU-3 WSU-2
Tournament Titles CU-7 WSU-0
Current Avg. Attendance- CU-17,000 WSU-10,500
NCAA Appearances- CU-8 WSU-2
NBA players produced- CU-3 WSU-0

The argument, well really its not even an argument. The only other team that compares to CU is SIU (if were talking as of recent history).

You know, I really, REALLY thought it was intentional, but when faced with the convincing argument of someone so clearly unbiased, you've really changed my mind, RedbirdLisa. Clearly we're all wrong and it's just normal to shoot your foot out at 80 degrees into an opposing player when you rebound. Happens all the time.

It looked intentional to just about every single person not wearing red. Carmichael is a dirty player.

Don't be so nasty. I was there. It happened very fast. It just did not look dirty to me. To call Carmichael a dirty player is out of line. 885 rebounds and no flagrants. This play was unfortunate but I do not think it was intentional.

The level of nastiness and vitriol on this thread is really beyond the pale.

It is a basketball game, nothing more. Carrying baggage forward ala a rivalry "can be" a healthy thing. Think of it this way, toting a single carry-on that fits under your airline seat is okay but anything more is unhealthy. It doesn't matter if it is WSU/Creighton, IlSU/WSU, IlSU/InSU, etc. hate is strong word, perhaps "strong disdain" is more applicable but even that doesn't work for me. It's a damn game nothing more.

Go Valley!!

Go Shocks!!!!
