Wichita State vs UCONN game thread - 2pm today

It may have finally sunk in. I think I get it now. MVC is in trouble when our pre season best team can't beat the 10th team in the Big East.

UNI lost to DePaul in a tournament game last year, costing us a shot at Tennessee and possibly Purdue. (Coincidentally, UNI only played one game prior to that tournament as well because no one would schedule us.) We bounced back from that, I think WSU will as well.

Besides, name and tradition alone will push them over the bubble when it comes down to it in March.

Tough loss for WSU, I was pulling for 'em. Just cross your fingers, hope for Virginia to knock off Wash. You might still get a big time RPI team for the 5th place game, not as good as Mich St, still not bad though.

Stutz got nailed with two illegal screen fouls that I thought might have been a little ticky tack. He just looked out of place out there during the times I was watching.

I thought the ESPN announcers were a little annoying in pointing out that this game was really important for the Valley as a whole. They made it almost sound like this was WSU's NCAA tournament game (at least one other guy I was watching the game with felt the same way.

Stutz got nailed with two illegal screen fouls that I thought might have been a little ticky tack. He just looked out of place out there during the times I was watching.

Are illegal screens a point of emphasis for officials this year? There have been a lot of illegal screen calls in both of Drake's games so far this season.

Apparently that's the case. Even the announcers made it a point of emphasis when he got the two illegal screen fouls. Basically stating that the feet can't be farther apart than the shoulders, although in the case of the last one Stutz got, it looked fine. The only issue the refs may have had with it was that he brought the forearms up (like a hockey check), even though I think he brought them up to protect himself. It looked worse than it actually was.

The one where he handed the ball off on the wing was obvious, he even knew it. He handed the ball off and the defender tried to slide around him and stutz slid over to try to stop him.

It would have been nice to see a Mich St. matchup but SDSU will still be a very good one for the resume.

the shox are clearly the class of the Valley if they can play a national championship contender like UCONN to such a close game. sounds like that guy from UCONN went off like Terrell Taylor against Florida in the 2nd half. Sorry for the sCUm glory days reference.
